Head of Public Partnerships Hull UK City of Culture 2017 Salary: Competitive In 2017 the eyes of the world will be on Hull as it becomes UK City of Culture. The delivery organisation for the project, Hull 2017, has been set up to produce 365 days of transformative culture during 2017 through a programme of diverse and high profile events and projects. We’re looking for an experienced and successful Head of Public Partnerships with an excellent track record of obtaining funds from charitable trusts & foundations and public sector bodies, to manage a varied portfolio of supporters and to develop new funding prospects. This is an exciting opportunity to lead on our relationships with existing and new public sector and charitable funders, working as part of the Partnerships & Development team. The successful candidate will secure income from diverse public sources to support the programme for UK City of Culture in 2017 and the people of Hull throughout the year and beyond. You will be based at our offices in central Hull. The role will require some travel as you lead on building partnerships within the city and across the UK and internationally. You will also work closely with colleagues across the city and the region, and liaise closely with a range of internal stakeholders including the Head of Corporate Partnerships and finance and business affairs colleagues. The Role You will be responsible for developing strong and sustainable funding relationships with partners to develop income streams to enable Hull 2017 to support the people of Hull through arts and culture. You will lead on relationships with public sector funders and charitable trusts and foundations at all levels and across multiple organisations including: Local Authorities, Regional Bodies, LEPs & EU funding as well as specialist funding agencies such as Arts & Culture, Health & Wellbeing, and Regeneration. During 2017 you will support the wider team by leading on or supporting a range of special events and regular meetings such as programme launches, VIP meetings and previews. Key Accountabilities Ferens Art Gallery: Hull Museums G G G Work with the Director of Partnerships & Development to implement the strategic plan to raise income from public sector funders and charitable trusts and foundations for 2017 and its legacy Develop a plan to maximise income from charitable trusts and foundations, agreeing a portfolio of priority fundraising projects and identifying potential funders for each Prepare and present funding proposals for UK and international foundations, tailoring proposals to each prospective funder and submitting applications to project and trust deadlines G Meet agreed financial income to contribute to the overall Partnerships & Development team income G To manage a portfolio of funding relationships and ensure all income is accounted for, acknowledged and complies with financial and legal requirements G G G Monitor industry information and take an active role in identifying opportunities for funding from Lottery distributors and government-led agencies, and new trusts and foundations Ensure that all fundraising approaches are consistently well researched, presented and followed through Approach and cultivate trustees and trust directors, and manage subsequent relationships through effective stewardship, submitting regular project reports and inviting contacts to events G Audit and monitor applications made by other organisations for Hull 2017-related projects to funding bodies G Maintain meticulous donor and prospect history records and files G Collate information required for reporting to our funders G Undertake any other duties as may be reasonably required by the Director of Partnerships & Development Required Skills and Experience G Of graduate calibre and with a minimum five years fundraising experience, at least three years of which should have been in trust fundraising G A proven track record in securing major (five or sixfigure) grants G In depth knowledge of UK charitable giving, particularly in arts and culture G Knowledge of tax/legislative landscape affecting the UK trust-giving market G Knowledge of how to form a strong case for support and ability to tailor proposals to match with funders’ needs G An ability to work on own initiative, to be pro-active in developing proposals and in solving problems G A polished and personable manner, confident in dealing with stakeholders and senior colleagues G Excellent standard of proposal and report writing and confident oral communication skills G A team player who demonstrates willingness to share information and ability to communicate positively and effectively with colleagues G To be literate and proficient in IT skills including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint G A lively interest in and appreciation of arts and culture G Able to work evening and weekend hours as required Head of Public Partnerships - Hull UK City of Culture 2017 How to Apply This is a full time position based in Hull until Easter 2018.
