PSALMS & SADNESS At a recent Sunday morning services we have looked at some of the Psalms in the Bible that give honest expression to the strong, deep, raw and honest feelings that we all experience during difficult times. Psalm 102, for example is describes as “a prayer of one whose life is falling to pieces, and who lets God know just how bad it is” (Psalm 102:1 Message). It is helpful for us to realise that great men and women of faith in Biblical times (and down through the ages) have experienced heart wrenching difficulties just as we do, and that they can be honest with God about their feelings, doubts, struggles and fears. In his book, If I were God I’d End all the Pain, John Dickson writes, “Faith is not the denial of reality, nor does it involve repeating a mantra to dispel the doubts. The true God is One you may surely doubt. He is big enough never to be overwhelmed by your anger or surprised by your questions. Whatever pains or injustices we’ve experienced or witnessed, we are invited to join with the biblical poet in asking, “Why have you forsaken me?” As we pour out our hearts to God, however, we are drawn to His tender love and compassion, and begin to see glimmers of hope through our cries for help. We do well to be honest with God, and to seek His help. For when we do we see; “The Lord is close to the broken hearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit” (Psalm 34:18 NIV). - Dale White 3rd May, 2015 Vol 35 No 17 FAMILY WORSHIP - 9AM In the Auditorium Dale White, Senior Pastor “A Psalm for Seasons of Satisfaction” Psalm 103 #3 Psalms for the Seasons of Life ‘Right Now Media’ Launch Peter Millican Worship Leader Brendon Walmsley SUNDAY @ FIVE - 5PM In the Chapel Message Chris England Young Adult & Children’s Pastor “The Visited Planet: God Becomes Man” Communion Leader Toby Burstow ‘Right Now Media’ Launch Peter Millican PEOPLE & PRAYER NEWS * Pray for Mark (Bear) & Kim Jones & family at the loss of their son, brother, grandson, nephew & cousin Jake. * Praise God for His love.
