John Guckes Bio John W Guckes is an independent consultant to the medical device industry. Mr. Guckes is a former executive with Bausch & Lomb (Rochester, NY), one of the world’s bestknown and most respected eye healthcare companies. Mr. Guckes’ career with Bausch & Lomb (now a division of Valeant Pharmaceuticals) spanned more than 30 years. During this time he served as Vice President- Global Cataract Strategy, Vice President- Global Cataract and Vitreoretinal Equipment, Vice President-Asia Surgical, Vice President and General Manager-Global Surgical Instruments, and Global Marketing Director- Storz Ophthalmic’ s International Division. His career has focused on business development and geo expansion in Asia and Europe and on developing and marketing industry leading ophthalmic devices. Mr. Guckes is recognized for strong strategic and tactical leadership, integrity, and the development and mentoring of ophthalmic business leaders throughout the world. He is a board member of the Eye Bank Association of America and Life Long Vision Foundation. Over the years Mr. Guckes has participated in numerous ophthalmic industry and professional committees and activities. He is an active member of his local church. Mr. Guckes holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree (Magna Cum Laude) and Masters in Business Administration, both from the University of Missouri-St. Louis. Mr. Guckes and his wife, Kathy, are originally from St. Louis. They have lived in Singapore, Hong Kong, Rochester, N.Y and Monarch Beach, California. They returned to St. Louis in 2010 and are enjoying spending time with friends, their five children and their spouses and grandchildren. They enjoy skiing, spending time at their Ozark cabin, and traveling and staying in touch with their friends across the globe.
