principles of safeguarding and protection in health and social care Who is the course for? This unit is aimed at those who work in a wide range of settings. It introduces the important area of safeguarding individuals from abuse, identifies different types of abuse and the signs and symptoms that might indicate that abuse is occurring. It considers when individuals might be particularly vulnerable to abuse and what a learner must do if abuse is suspected or alleged. This course can be delivered as part of an employer’s induction for new staff members or refresher training for existing members of staff and it is reflective of Standard 6 of the Common Induction Standards (CIS) as directed by Skills for Care. The content has been taken directly from the Level 2 Diploma in Health and Social Care qualification which is on the Qualifications and Credit Framework (QCF). On successful completion, individuals will be awarded an accredited unit certificate. Course Content Upon completion of this course, learners will... • know how to recognise signs of abuse • know how to respond to suspected or alleged abuse • understand the national and local context of safeguarding and protection from abuse • understand ways to reduce the liklihood of abuse • know how to recognise and report unsafe practices Delivery and Assessment Delivery of this unit will be through classroom based taught sessions in a workshop format. ID Training can facilitate this training over one day. A minimum of 10 people are required for each session and the price per person is £45.
