IIT Gandhinagar Foundation Announces Appointment of Executive Director
Ahmedabad: The IIT Gandhinagar Foundation, a US-based Charitable Trust, announced the
appointment of Mr. Ravi Mistry as its first Executive Director. Mistry will be responsible for
designing and managing the Foundation's worldwide capital campaign with primary focus on
the US, as well as serving as a liaison between donors and IIT Gandhinagar on important
initiatives supported by the donors.
"The IIT Gandhinagar Foundation (IITGNF) Board is delighted that Ravi Mistry with his wealth of
experience and connections with the target donor communities, will help IITGNF in advancing
the Institute’s development goals of becoming one of India’s leading educational institutions,"
said Mr. Raj Mashruwala, President and Chairman of the Board of IITGNF.
Dr. Sudhir Jain, Director of IIT Gandhinagar also welcomed the appointment, "IIT Gandhinagar is
excited that Ravi Mistry will be joining the IITGN Foundation to bring more focus on our
innovative programs and initiatives as well as support our capital campaign, which provides
critical support for promoting excellence at the Institute.”
Mr. Mistry said, "This is a very challenging and yet a dream-come-true opportunity for me as I
am very passionate about improving technology education in India, and helping lay the
groundwork for a world-class Institute. I am excited that raising funds for IITGN will support
many of IITGN’s innovative initiatives, will help raise its standard of excellence in teaching, and
nurture the young talent that enrich India and the world."
Previously, Mistry was member of founding team of Virident Systems, a Silicon Valley based
technology startup that was acquired by HGST/Western Digital. Earlier, he held senior
management positions in the life sciences industry. Mistry has managed closing of Seed, Series
A and Series B funding in excess of $35M. Currently, he also serves as volunteer President of
EPPIC Global Network, a life sciences professional organization. He is Adjunct Professor in the
MBA program at Keller Graduate School of Management, DeVry University. Mistry holds BE in
Civil Engineering from Gujarat University, India, an MS in Structural Engineering from Stanford
University, and an MBA in Finance.
