This includes an after school club, summer play scheme and a youth club for 8-13 year olds. We are looking for a youth worker or play worker who can be part of staffing the youth club sessions each week, ensuring the children enjoy their time there and benefit from the team’s support. The team includes qualified play workers and youth workers to balance the needs of the age group. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to this highly successful service. WASP is part of Impact Initiatives Children & Young People’s services. Located in central Whitehawk, WASP Youth Club is for 8-13 year olds living on the Whitehawk Estate in East Brighton, which is one of the most deprived areas in the country. We provide a safe place for up to thirty members with positive adult role models who have the time to really listen, get to know the members and so build relationships of trust and respect, something which is often lacking in their lives. We work hard to help these young people to learn practical and social skills which will help them to become more confident giving them higher self-esteem and aspirations for their future MAIN TASKS Operational 1. To work with a team to supervise open access sessions, including the kitchen and ensuring the club is safe and prepared for users. 2. To work with a team to deliver a youth work programme and be responsible for delivering a range of activities. 3. To ensure all children and young people using the service within the session, receive appropriate support and information. 4. To ensure that all paperwork relevant to the sessions is completed appropriately Building and Resources 5. To insure that any work is carried out within risk assessments done for the activity or session. 6. To contribute to maintaining the overall condition of the club, ensuring it is a positive space for young people to attend. Monitoring /Reporting 7. To contribute to both briefing and de-briefing sessions with staff and volunteers for the session and to ensure that any client and session records are maintained. Policies and Procedures 8. To implement project and organisational policies and procedures into daily work practice. 9. To comply with and implement Impacts Safeguarding policy and ensure that child protection issues are fully reported, recorded and dealt with appropriately 10. To comply with and implement Impact Initiatives Equal Opportunities Policy and any specific policies and procedures designed to promote and monitor equal opportunities. 11.
