They want to give you the chance to think about the ideas the government has. This consultation event is for family members and people with learning disabilities. Together we aim to explore what we have learned so far and to begin developing ideas and strategies for better advocacy into the future. The workshop will be facilitated by Kate Fulton and is for advocacy providers and commissioners including family advocacy organisations. There will be a workshop in the North East and in Yorkshire and the Humber. A manifesto is a statement written by the political parties which tells the public their views, ideas and what they will do if they win the election. The Conservatives, Labour, Liberal Democrats and UKIP have worked with Mencap to produce the easy read manifestos. A vital part of that process in the future will be the involvement of people affected by cancer in helping to design and shape services and priorities. They need to understand from you what good involvement looks like, and how you’d like to be involved with them in designing, contracting and delivering cancer services. They are running a workshop on Friday 15th May, at Unity Works in Westgate, Wakefield WF1 1EP They will reimburse travel expenses for people affected by cancer to attend where necessary. The Challenging Behaviour Foundation Following the success of good practice posters at their last two meetings, the Challenging Behaviour Foundation would like to invite you to submit an application to make a poster to showcase good practice focusing on the theme of ‘Positive Behaviour Support: An overarching framework.’ They will be holding a meeting jointly with the North West Positive Behaviour Support Network at Edge Hill University where there will also be an exhibition of posters, resources and general good practice at their next meeting in October. For further information please email [email protected] The Pool of Sound The Pool of Sound is a specialist music project based in Newcastle upon Tyne which mainly provides one to one sessions for people with learning and physical disabilities. They support people to create, rehearse, perform and record their own music in an appropriate music studio environment. They can also arrange music sessions for groups of up to 10 people. The band is mixture of musicians with and without learning disabilities who come along every week to make music and mainly have fun. You can join in or watch from the audience it’s up to you.
