Care Act Workshops
Would you like to know more about the Care Act 2014?
Are you interested in having some workshops in your area?
The Care Act 2014 is coming in to force in England in April
2015 and Inclusion North have been running some
workshops.
The workshops have been a fantastic opportunity to raise
people’s awareness and understanding of the changes that
the Care Act will bring.
If you are from an Inclusion North member area and would
like to find out more then please contact a member of the
team who would be happy to discuss the opportunity of
running some workshops in your local area.

National Politics and the LB Bill Workshop
Inclusion North would like to run a workshop about national
politics to provide you with some information about how
politics work in our country and what you can do to get
involved.
We also want to share information with you about the
Justice for LB (Laughing Boy) campaign and the ideas that
they have about how the law can be changed so that
people with a learning disability and their families are
listened to by the Government, NHS and councils.

Young People's Rights
Every five years, the Government has to report to a special
Committee at the United Nations about how well it is
protecting young people’s rights.
Young people can get involved with this to make sure that
issues that are important to them are being raised.

Everything you need to know about voting
On 2nd April LDA England will measure how well each
political party is going to defend the rights of people with
learning disabilities.
The results will be published so people can use this
information to decide how they should vote in the General
Election in May.

E-Petition
This e-petition has been started by a self-advocate
It is about getting political parties to listen to people with
learning disabilities, to make things better and to stop
ignoring abuse.

Living Well with Autism: Beyond the Limitations
This conference will look at what life is like in the UK for
people on the autism spectrum.
It will address the main issues and concerns facing the
autistic community – things like diagnosis, early
intervention and support.
The latest developments will be discussed, such as the
SEN reforms, autism friendly communities and the
government’s ‘Think Autism’ strategy.

Promoting Health and Wellbeing Conference
The aim of this free conference is to be a guide to health
and wellbeing for people who care and support those with
learning disabilities.
Some of the things it will cover on the day will be

primary care issues
reasonable adjustments
the hospital learning disability flagging system
reducing premature mortality

Disability Matters is a range of free resources for everyone
who works with disabled children and young people. It
includes e-learning and face-to-face group training

Creative Day Care in Scarborough
Creative Day Care is a new provider of daytime education
and training for adults with learning disabilities in
Scarborough.
It is based at The Street close to the town centre and is
now registering new members.
It is aimed at people that are on the road to independence
but might be a bit excluded.

Job Opportunity
NHS England is looking for a Learning Disability Network
Manager to join their team.
They need an expert by experience who knows about
rights-based approaches and believes in the rights and
empowerment of people with learning disabilities.
This is a co-working post, which means you will work with a
colleague. Together with your co-worker, you will help to
create and support a rights-based network of people with
learning disabilities, user led organisations and selfadvocacy organisations.
Your job will help to make sure that NHS England gets
better at including people with Learning Disabilities and
listens and acts on what people with Learning Disabilities
and their families and carers are saying about their
experiences and their rights. This will contribute to making
the NHS better for people with Learning Disabilities.

Relationship and Sexuality Course in Leeds
This is a course for men and women with a learning
disability. It is to help people learn about things to do with
relationships and sexuality.
There will be 7 sessions and you will get a booklet to help
you remember what you have learnt.
The training starts on Friday 28th August and costs £55 for
each session.
