Resuscitation Council (UK) Immediate Life Support Provider Course Overview Course Content The aims of this workshop are to: • train health care personnel; causes and prevention of cardiopulmonary arrest, the ABCDE approach, initial resuscitation and defibrillation (manual and/or AED) and simple airway management • train healthcare personnel to manage patients in cardiopulmonary arrest until arrival of the resuscitation team • train healthcare personnel to participate as members of the resuscitation team Lectures • Causes and prevention of cardiorespiratory Facilitators Demonstration Joanna Lawrence Resuscitation Council (UK) ALS instructor Senior Lecturer, PGM ALS or ILS instructors, or EPLS/NLS instructors with a valid ALS Provider certificate Who should attend • • • • Doctors Hospital and Community Medical Students Nurses and Midwives Paramedical staff • arrest The ALS algorithm Practical stations • The ABCDE approach • • • • Initial resuscitation and defibrillation Airway (with optional LMA) Targeted training CAS teach There is one CAST each demonstration. Emphasis is placed on managing patients until the arrival of the cardiac arrest team and on participation as members of that team Cost £120 per person* Participation in this workshop is equivalent to 5 CME points for doctors and 7 verifiable CPD points/hours.
