We had over 1,000 eggs, which were donated by the congregation, assembled by the Chi Rho & CYF, and hidden by our youth and Patricia Knowles. Julie McNeil did another beautiful story to kick off the hunt, Kimberly Weir, Jan & Kent Dorsey, Marilyn Mastin, Saunie McLaughlin, Barbara & Karen Murphree, Julie McNeil, Kyra McNeil, Suzanne Speight, James Valentine and Dottie Crews, set up and/or ran the craft tables, and Kerri Halligan and Beverly Alexander helped the youth sell concessions to raise money for mission trips. It was a beautiful day, and many families from the congregation and the community participated. Thank you for your continued support of this event! -Lisa Varon & Kelly Paterno Page 2 Check Out What’s Going On With RACC Children and Youth Programming... Out of Death: Life Out of blackness: a lush green world, flowers in the ice, sunrays in the storm mustard seeds galore. Our souls enter a spiritual springtime, Our bodies given over to leaping and dancing, Our very beings saturated in hosannas. Our shouting crashes in upon this world: The Lord lives! We live! Resurrection resounds throughout our community. -Ann Weems The Church Year Reaching for Rainbows PRAYER CONCERNS The following people have been identified as needing special prayers. The program will study the major scripture passages about gifts. The class is led by Rev. Fred Woolsey. All are welcome. Issue: Jobs Some neighborhoods in Northwest Jacksonville suffer unemployment rates that are 100% higher than Jacksonville’s average rate of unemployment. Last year, ICARE got Mayor Brown to launch an initiative to start employee-owned businesses in these neighborhoods with a strategy for increasing household and neighborhood wealth. This year, we will report on progress by the Mayor’s Task Force for Wealth Building that was established after our 2014 Assembly. We will ask Mayor Brown to advance the feasibility study for starting new businesses with this strategy of: “Buy Local, Hire Local, Live Local.” SENIOR SINGLES Announcing the initiation of a Northeast Christian Fellowship Group for the seasoned members of our churches who don’t have to rush home after church on Sundays to cook supper for a significant other. After the 10:50 a.m. service on Sunday, April 12th, let’s get together at Crispers, 4509 St. John’s Avenue (near Roosevelt) (904) 389-9075. If we have more than ten attendees, we get a 10% discount. Please inform the Church office (389-1751) or email [email protected] if you will join us. Nehemiah Assembly Monday April 20, 7 PM at Potter’s House Now is the time to use our people power to join with 35 other faith congregations to show our commitment for positive changes in our city. The committees of our justice ministry network (ICARE) have been hard at work, meeting with our elected officials to powerfully address improvements in the areas of jobs, youth crime, higher student graduation rates, mental health, and homelessness. “Seek the peace and prosperity of the city to which I have carried you, and pray to God for it; because if it prospers, you, too, will prosper.” Jeremiah 29:7 At the Nehemiah Assembly on Monday, April 20th at The Potter’s House, RACC is bringing 100 people. Are you one?
