Position Description
Reports & Responsible to:
Manager, Venue Security
Position Summary:
This position may perform a wide variety of duties including (but not
limited to): All phases of public and facility safety/security, life safety
systems, transportation and traffic control, safeguarding the facilities,
assets, staff and patrons of True North Sports and Entertainment, the
MTS Centre and CTV.
Detailed Responsibilities:












Enforce facility regulations to provide a secure environment for all
employees, visitors and patrons.
Protect the facilities and assets of True North from theft or damage.
Detect and prevent theft or destruction of company property.
Maintain order within and around the facility.
Oversee access to the facility including issuance of all keys,
changing of locks, and issuance of magnetic passes, maintenance
of visitor logs and enforcement of access procedures, all based on
established policies.
Monitor security cameras and operate security control room
equipment.
Maintain and ensure all safety measures and emergency measures
and procedures are adhered to.
Respond to alarms, disturbances, threats and all other disturbances
and emergencies as necessary.
Conduct regular security rounds and maintain a legible detailed log
of rounds and complete detailed reports of all incidents as required.
Any other duties as assigned from time to time by Supervisors/
Management.
Ability to work with little or no supervision.
Take personal responsibility for facility security and safety; assume
other areas of responsibility as required when other departments
are not present (e.g. Housekeeping)

High School diploma or general education degree or equivalent
combination of education and experience.
Experience in the security field at an entertainment facility is an
asset.
Good working knowledge of crowd control requirements / training a
definite asset.
Background in conflict resolution, problem solving and customer
service.
Good interpersonal skills.
Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
Good organizational and record keeping abilities.
Proficient in Excel, Word, and other computer applications.
Must possess sound judgment and be of solid character.
Must possess class 5 Manitoba drivers’ license in good standing.
Must provide a clean criminal record check as well as a child abuse
registry check.
Must be licensed or licensable under provincial security guard
legislation.

Shift Work and Standard
Hours of Work
Venue Security Guards work rotating shifts. Shifts rotate on a monthly
basis, subject to change based on the wishes of the majority of security
guards and management. Shifts will be eight (8) or ten (10) hours in
length. True North possesses a “Standard Hours of Work Permit”
granted by Manitoba Employment Standards, allowing Full-Time Venue
Security Guards to work up to ten (10) hours per day or forty (40) hours
per week without overtime pay (The Permit is posted in the security
office).
