ALGONQUIN AREA PUBLIC LIBRARY
Summer Volunteer forms are now available! Looking for volunteer hours for NHS or college? The Library has a
variety of opportunities available in June and July. Volunteer forms are due May 1 and can be picked up in the
Jacobs Media Center or at the Library. Contact Jennifer Jazwinski, Young Adult Librarian with questions at 847-4583153 or [email protected].
ATTENDANCE
Attention Students: Perfect attendance lists are posted on the Student Services Windows. For any questions
please contact Mrs. Christensen, Attendance Secretary, located in the Counseling office.
BIG BROTHERS BIG SISTERS
We are currently looking for high school students who are interested in mentoring elementary or middle school
students next year. Volunteers meet weekly for ONE hour after school to help with homework, play games, or
make crafts. You must have your own transportation to the school site. Applications are available in the Counseling

Office and have a deadline of May 8 .
BOYS SOCCER
Attention all boys soccer players, there is a MANDATORY meeting in room 215 after school on Wednesday April
22nd. We will be finalizing summer workouts and camps. Please see Coach Cappello with questions.
DUNDEE MIDDLE SCHOOL MUSICAL
Come see the DMS Musical Beauty & the Beast performed at Elgin Community College at Friday April 24th and
25th at 7:30 PM. Tickets are selling fast! They are on sale at $12 for adults and $10 for students/seniors. You can
order tickets by calling the box office or going online to the ECC Arts Center. Come support these talented students
perform on stage singing, dancing, and acting as enchanted objects and villagers in stunning costumes and a
spectacular set! These shows will likely sell out, so buy your tickets soon!
EARTH DAY
Today’s Earth week trivia question is: WHAT HOUSEHOLD APPLIANCE USES THE MOST ENERGY? Please drop off
your answer in the bucket on the table during your lunch period today to enter for another $10 gift card! We’ll
announce tomorrow who the winner is!
ILLINOIS SCIENCE OLYMPIAD
Congratulations to the Science Olympiad Team in Placing 6th place in division A at the State Tournament in
Champaign over the weekend. Please give them a high five when you see them for all their hard work and
achievement. ISO Team Members: Isabel Bernardi, Maggie Corbett, Kevin Derby, Sofia Gjata, Kelly Hartigan, Austin
Nguyen, Ewa Oszajec, Kailash Panchapakesan, Thea Robinson, Parth Shah, David Schillmoeller, Rachel
Schillmoeller, Nick Voss, and Karen Wu. Individual events earned are: 1st place Experimental Design, Sofia Giata,
Nick Voss, and Austin Nguyen; 2nd place Dynamic Planet, Kevin Derby and Kelly Hartigan; 2nd Place Wright Stuff,
Kevin Derby and Thea Robinson; 3rd place It’s about Time, Karen Wu and Austin Nyugen; 4th place Fossils, Ewa
Oszajec and Karen Wu; and 5th place Bridge Building, Isabel Bernardi and Kevin Derby. Goooo.... Eagles!
JACOBS YEARBOOK VIDEO
A new way to view and remember your school year is available to Jacob’s Students and families this year. Be sure
to get your order in for the first ever Jacob’s yearbook video. They are 20 dollars and include 2 DVD’s containing
sports highlights, dances, activities and the general population of the school. Order forms can be picked up in the
main office or outside room 142 and are due by the end of April. Don’t miss out!
LIBRARY
There were 117 students that participated in guessing how much gum was in the jar for National Library
Week. There were 77 pieces of gum in the jar and we had 5 students that were 1 off. We put those names in a
drawing and Joe Hogle, you are the big winner! Also Allie Schafer, Alec Cynova, Katy Baldwin and Munsit Hussain
you are our runners up. Please stop by to get your prize.
PROM
If you purchased a prom ticket, you will receive your bus and table assignments by Friday, April 24. Please see Ms.
Daley in Social Studies or Mrs. Zoellner in room 253 if you have any questions.
SCHOLARSHIPS
Jim Krenz Scholarship: The Carpentersville Rotary Club Jim Krenz scholarship is now available in the Counseling

Office. The application deadline is May 1 , 2015
Environmental Defenders of McHenry County: Two $1,000 scholarships are being offered to high school seniors
interested in pursuing careers in environmental work. The scholarship will be awarded to seniors who have
demonstrated a commitment to schoolwork, community, and the environment. To be eligible the student must be
a resident of McHenry county, have volunteered for an environmental organization, needs two letters of
recommendation, GPA, and an essay. Applications are available in the Counseling Office. The deadline is April 24,
2015.
Aspiring Fashion Professional Scholarship: This is a $1,000 scholarship that will be awarded to students that are
interested in pursuing a fashion degree at an accredited post-secondary school or college. Interested students can
visit this link http://www.fashion-schools.org/ and find the scholarship located at the bottom of the page and click
on it. Deadline is June 1, 2015.
Aspiring Animation Professional: Scholarship Program offering high school seniors the opportunity to win a $1,000
scholarship. This will be awarded to students that are interested in pursuing an animation career path at an
accredited post-secondary school or college. Interested students can visit our website:

Senior Award sheets are due in the counseling office today. Please take time to share your information with us so
