ALGONQUIN AREA PUBLIC LIBRARY
Summer Volunteer forms are now available! Looking for volunteer hours for NHS or college? The Library has a
variety of opportunities available in June and July. Volunteer forms are due May 1 and can be picked up in the
Jacobs Media Center or at the Library. Contact Jennifer Jazwinski, Young Adult Librarian with questions at 847-4583153 or [email protected].
ART CLUB
Attention art clubbers: This Wednesday is going to be our final meeting of the year! Make sure to stop by for some
treats and some end of the year fun. Any questions, see Ms. Ellis. Thanks for such a fun and successful year!
ATTENDANCE
Attention Students: Perfect attendance lists are posted on the Student Services Windows. For any questions
please contact Mrs. Christensen, Attendance Secretary, located in the Counseling office.
BIG BROTHERS BIG SISTERS
We are currently looking for high school students who are interested in mentoring elementary or middle school
students next year. Volunteers meet weekly for ONE hour after school to help with homework, play games, or
make crafts. You must have your own transportation to the school site. Applications are available in the Counseling

Office and have a deadline of May 8 .
BOOK CLUB

The last meeting of book club this year will be on Wednesday May 6 and we will be reading Butter by Erin Jade
Lange, a darkly humorous tale of bullying, obesity and the craving for popularity in the Internet age. Pick up a copy
at the circulation desk today!
CAP & GOWN DELIVERY

Attention seniors: Cap and gown delivery will be April 30 after senior awards in the field house.
COUNSELING
Summertime Employment Opportunity: Centegra Health Bridge Fitness Center is seeking lifeguards to work at their
Crystal Lake and Huntley locations this summer! To be eligible, you must be a certified lifeguard and at least 16
years of age. An application must be submitted online. Please stop by the Counseling Office to pick up more
information about the certification training available in the area and to pick up the online link for the job
application.

GOLDEN TICKETS
There are only three late starts left so start to think about how you want to spend your remaining Golden

Tickets. There will be a final raffle for an IPad Mini that will take place during Senior Awards on April 30 . Both
the student who earned the ticket and the staff member that wrote the ticket will win an IPad mini. The raffle bin

is located in Student Services. Starting on April 23 a qualifier will be drawn each day leading up to the Senior
Awards Ceremony. Good luck and remember to be Respectful, Responsible and Ready.

LIBRARY
Seniors- this Friday will be the last day to check out textbooks and any library materials. Everything will be due on

Friday, May 8 . You will be billed for items that you don’t return and you will not be able to get your
transcripts. Stop by the library to see what you have checked out.
MUSIC INDUSTRY
Hey you! Music Industry Club's Spring Rock the Mic is on Tuesday, May 5th behind the Algonquin Area Public
Library. Come on down to our last show of the year, starting at 4pm, to hear amazing music acts, eat some candy,
and win some prizes!
PROM
If you plan on having your picture taken at Prom, picture order forms are now available in student services.

If you are attending prom, you will need to report back to Jacobs High School at 5:00 on Friday, May 1 . When
you arrive, please go to the competition gym, find your bus number posted on the wall, and check in with your
chaperone. Buses will be leaving promptly at 5:45. You will return to Jacobs around 12:15. Please bring your
school ID.

Algonquin Garden Club: The deadline for the Algonquin Garden Club scholarship has been extended to May 11 .
Applications are available in the Counseling Office.
Jim Krenz Scholarship: The Carpentersville Rotary Club Jim Krenz scholarship is now available in the Counseling

Office. The application deadline is May 1 , 2015
Aspiring Fashion Professional Scholarship: This is a $1,000 scholarship that will be awarded to students that are
interested in pursuing a fashion degree at an accredited post-secondary school or college. Interested students can
visit this link http://www.fashion-schools.org/ and find the scholarship located at the bottom of the page and click
on it. Deadline is June 1, 2015.
Aspiring Animation Professional: Scholarship Program offering high school seniors the opportunity to win a $1,000
scholarship. This will be awarded to students that are interested in pursuing an animation career path at an
accredited post-secondary school or college. Interested students can visit our website:
