Innovation
[To Launch Innovative Solutions for Global Apparel and Textile Industry]
Aiming to contribute to the development of apparel and sewing industries, attracting advanced high-quality
exhibits, spanning the period 1984 to 2012, and having been responsive to changing technology and
circumstances, Japan Sewing Machinery Manufacturers Association (JASMA) have provided ten editions
as JIAM International Apparel Machinery Trade Show. The 11th edition, JIAM 2016 OSAKA will be held at
Osaka in April 2016. The show will encompass both apparel industry and textile industry as a whole
including non-apparel sectors and segments such as automotive, upholstery, outdoor & lifestyle goods
and up-coming industrial textile goods. It will be showing the latest technologies and innovative new
products related to the whole of the sewing industry, apparel manufacturing, and textile processing.
Therefore, show title from 11th edition is being extended to “Japan International Apparel Machinery &
Textile Industry Trade Show”. Under the show theme – Innovative Solutions & Advanced Processing
Technology – JIAM 2016 OSAKA will showcase IT, both as Information Technology and as Innovative
Technology. Presenting both the latest hardware and software in a place to view the most advanced
products from the whole wide world; this is a complete trade show where the focus is on doing real business.
“Automation again” from “Back to Basic” - JASMA promotes innovation!
Three pillars of Abenomics, dubbed “the three arrows”, Japanese Government economic policies consist
of Aggressive Monetary Policy, Flexible Fiscal Policy and Structural Reform of the Economy.
For the sewing-related sector, taking advantage of stimulus measures, these economic policies are
equivalent to;
 Providing tax incentives of One Trillion Yen (≒8.4 billion US dollars, ≒€ 7.8 billion)
 Productivity improvement and capital investment promotion tax system
 Government budget allowances of up to Five Trillion Yen (≒42 billion US dollars,
≒€ 39 billion) to encourage a ‘virtuous cycle’ by promoting technological development
such as innovative manufacturing
Due to the effects of wage increases worldwide, there is strong demand for “Automation again” for labor
saving. With the positive effect of the Abenomics, JASMA is promoting Innovative Solutions for Apparel
and sewing industry towards JIAM 2016 OSAKA.
Visitors
[Many decision makers will participate from the most growing markets!]
Many trade visitors including leading users and distributors from the most growing markets in the world
will participate JIAM 2016 OSAKA.
At the previous JIAM show in 2012, high quality trade visitors came from 53 countries & regions around
the world. As well as from the sewing industry and listed involvement in related sectors such as apparel
manufactures, retailer, textile maker, trading company and others, many overseas trade visitors were
decision makers in their company, and they contributed to the general atmosphere of the show as a lively
forum where business was being conducted. Many of the Japanese exhibitors showed their latest
products, systems, and technologies that cannot be seen at sewing machinery shows in other countries.
On the questionnaires, many trade visitors commented: “I was glad to have experienced the latest
technology”; “I was able to get a lot of information from the exhibitors.” More than 90% of respondents
said that they achieved the purpose of their visit and satisfied for JIAM show.

[Discover solutions and encounter business partners]
JIAM 2016 OSAKA is a major international trade fair, and a global showcase. Offering a new business
model, it’s much more than a simple stage. It also features symposiums and seminars mostly concerned
with ‘innovative solutions’. In addition, providing responsive support for the diverse needs of
manufacturing businesses, a Service Area for New Business Matching is being set up to facilitate
encounters with new business partners.

Since we started accepting registrations for exhibitors in September 2014, we have received many inquiries
from companies and organizations in Japan and overseas. Many major manufacturers and organizations
have expressed their intent to participate in the trade show as exhibitors. As at 20th April 2015, 60 percent
of the exhibition space for JIAM 2016 OSAKA has already been sold.
Promotion
[PR activities at related trade shows]
JASMA had actively promoted JIAM 2016 OSAKA to the organizers, its exhibitors and related
organizations at industry-related trade shows held in Japan as well as at sewing-related trade shows held in
Asian regions in 2014 (including Taiwan, Dongguan - China, Cambodia, Vietnam, Singapore and Myanmar).
JASMA has also solicited groups in Europe, such as VDMA German Garment and Leather Technology
Association and members, for participation in JIAM 2016 OSAKA as exhibitors and visitors.
Consequently, companies from Germany and other countries in Europe have announced their
participation at the pavilion. We have received support and co-sponsorship from many Japanese
industry-related organizations, including the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI). Additionally,
we have established partnerships with apparel and textile-related organizations from 13 countries and
regions overseas. Based on those partnerships, we have built cooperative relationships and are
promoting trade-show attendance through activities designed to attract visitors to the show.
We have engaged in a wide range of promotional activities to solicit exhibitors and attract potential
visitors in addition to conducting a publicity campaign at industry-related trade shows in Japan. We had
the explanatory meeting at DTG 2015 Dhaka, Bangladesh in February and the press conference at DTC
2015 Dongguan, China in March 2015. We plan to have a press conference regarding JIAM 2016
OSAKA and an explanatory meeting on the exhibition overview at Texprocess 2015 which will be held
from 4th - 7th May in Frankfurt am Main, Germany as follows;

An area will be set up at JIAM 2016 OSAKA in order to provide assistance in business matching
internationally, where manufacturers are given support in meeting new business partners and obtaining
assistance to various needs. Previously, exhibitors left comments such as: “Due to the language barrier,
we couldn't reach business agreements with international trade visitors that showed an interest in our
products.”, “Due to a lack of experience in exporting / importing, we couldn't expand our sales network
even though we wanted to.” Thus, we will improve the Support for Global Business Expansion program by
providing translators for business negotiations with international trade visitors and providing consultants
for exporting and importing at the venue. Visitors are invited to take advantage of the benefits unique to
JIAM, which offers energetic and exciting interactions with many international trade visitors and
numerous opportunities for negotiation.

◆Benefit 1: Early Bird Discount! Discounted fee for registration before 30th June, 2015
If you register before 30th June, 2015, the regular fee for booth space (9 sqm) will be reduced from
¥300,000 to ¥280,000. Additionally, you'll be given priority in securing your desired booth location. We
strongly recommend early registration for exhibitors.
◆Benefit 2: Free booth space based on the “Special Exhibitor Support Scheme”
JASMA's member companies are implementing innovative technology and developing new products to
present at JIAM 2016. The fruits of this effort are eagerly anticipated amid the growing demand for
automation and streamlining due to increased labor costs and shortages at the manufacturing bases in
developing countries.
JASMA, the organizer, offers the Special Exhibitor Support Scheme for exhibitors who demonstrate and
exhibit innovative products, technology and services that are in line with the theme of JIAM 2016 OSAKA.
Upon receiving an application, we will provide free booth space according to the prescribed guidelines.
First-time exhibitors at JIAM 2016 OSAKA who register for more than two booths and/or returning exhibitors
who increase their booth space by more than two booths will be provided with free booth (s). If the
application is submitted for the Special Exhibitor Support Scheme by June 30, 2015 – also the deadline for
the early registration discount as mentioned above -- the applicant will receive double benefits. (For details,

[Overseas Promotions]
Overseas promotions of JIAM 2016 OSAKA have started in the beginning of 2014. Naad International
Co., Ltd., and Messe Tech Co., Ltd., have conducted promotional activities, the former in Asian countries
and regions and the latter in Europe. Using their networks and in collaboration with members of the JIAM
2016 Executive Committee, capitalizing on ties with related trade shows and events in their regions, and
by holding talks with apparel, textile and machinery-related organizations, they have enthusiastically
conducted promotion activities and solicited potential exhibitors as well as trade visitors. JIAM 2016
OSAKA aims to achieve the target of 30,000 visitors in total, including 5,000 visitors from overseas.

[Trade shows held in parallel with JIAM 2016 OSAKA]
In order to expand and improve the scope of JIAM 2016 OSAKA and encourage synergistic benefits for
exhibitors and visitors, related trade shows for textiles, fashion, and supplies and accessories will be held
in parallel with JIAM 2016 OSAKA. As of this date, two fairs, “International Garment Accessories Trade
Show” and “Fashion Business Solution Fair (FBS)” are scheduled to be held concurrently with JIAM 2016

◆ What's FBS?
Held for the first time in January 2014, the FBS is a trade show that provides support for fashion
production and the creation of selling spaces. The fashion business is becoming increasingly diverse
alongside consumer changes. The subject of production is also diversifying. More and more, the industry
is calling for "new production sites and technologies" as well as "new proposals for creating selling
spaces." FBS is our response to these needs from the industry.
Exhibitors will include retailers and manufacturers whose targeted customers are overseas visitors to
JIAM 2016 OSAKA. The exhibition will assemble and present textiles, supplies and accessories,
assistance to create selling places, inbound guides for Kansai sightseeing sites, and made-in-Japan
goods. Apparel manufacturers and selective shops are aggressively being solicited to visit the fair.
