Role overview
A key member of the wider Finance team at Edinburgh Airport Limited (EAL) the Treasury and
Technical Accountant is there to support the Financial Controller. To achieve success in this
role candidates will assist in the preparation of the statutory accounts and gathering the
necessary information for the associated tax returns for Edinburgh Airport Limited as well as its
immediate parent companies – this will involve being the key point for the external audit team.
The role will have a key responsibility for reviewing and reporting on the working capital of the
business and forecasting the cash flows to determine lending facility utilisation. The role will
also support the transition of the business from old UK GAAP to FRS102 with an on-going
responsibility for the reporting necessary to comply with hedge accounting legislation. This is a
new role in the team and a great opportunity to shape the role and make it your own while at the

Principal accountabilities
1. Preparation of statutory accounts for standalone and consolidated entities (experience
essential)
2. Preparation of quarterly VAT returns for review by the Financial Controller (experience
essential)
3. Preparation of information to facilitate corporation tax returns (experience essential)
4. Preparation of accounting entries associated with hedge accounting (experience
desirable)
5. Working with FRS102 (experience desirable)
6. Reporting requirements associated with double tax treaty clearance (experience
desirable)
7. Preparation of Cashflow forecasts, both short and longer term (experience desirable)
8. Reporting on working capital and making improvements (experience desirable)
9. Working with Walker reporting guidelines (experience desirable)
Role Profile
10. Coordination of the annual audit with the external auditors and any internal audits as
appropriate (experience desirable)
11. Liaising with tax advisors on corporate tax compliance and VAT (experience desirable)
12. Assistance with the preparation of technical accounting papers on key accounting issues
and judgements (experience desirable)
Qualifications and experience
Newly qualified to maximum two years PQE chartered accountant looking to make a first
second move out of practice with the above identified experience, some of which is essential
the remainder being desirable.
As it is a small finance team at EAL, it is vital that you are able to demonstrate initiative, take
responsibility and collaborate with others for success.
Good IT skills, including proficient use of Excel (lookups, pivot tables, nested formulae) would
also be equally valuable. Experience of SAP B1 and iDocs an advantage but not essential.
Framework and boundaries
1. Working with the wider Finance team to support the end to end reporting and controls
function at the airport.
