SBAA: The SBAA board officially announces that the Girls Volleyball and Girls Basketball seasons have officially switched to align better with High School seasons and meet the expectations of the newly formed sports league. With CYO disbanding, it was imperative for the board to get this information out quickly. With Girls Volleyball now being played in the fall, registrations are now being accepted from 5/11/15 until 5/31/15. At this time, we can send the new league how many teams will be placed by SBAA. The board understands that this change impacts several areas not historically conflicted by Girls Volleyball but we felt it best in the long run to make the switch. Just to reiterate.....Girls Volleyball will now be played in the fall season and Girls Basketball will now be played in the winter season. Please visit www.stbartsathletics.org and click the Login (or Register if first-time user) button to get started. The full announcement can be found below. Thank you! Have a blessed week and remember you are the body of Christ. Let your words and actions spread His love. ATTENTION SBAA MEMBERS Dear Parents, As many of you may be aware, CYO as we know it will be disbanded at the end of this school year and a new league will be formed. SBAA Board Members have worked very closely with representatives from the Archdiocese of Cincinnati, a steering committee, and the other 35 parishes and schools that were part of CYO. One topic that has been discussed over the years is switching the girls volleyball and girls basketball seasons. As we have been meeting with everyone over the last several months, it was clear every parish/school had different issues to address and there was no agreement on switching the season. However, what was agreed upon, was to have 1 league with 2 seasons for volleyball and 2 seasons for basketball. What was also agreed upon was a school/parish could only play volleyball in 1 season and basketball in 1 season. So if a parish/school chose volleyball in the fall, they had to play basketball in the winter. After many discussions, the board of SBAA decided to have girls volleyball in the fall and girls basketball in the winter. No other sports are being affected by this change for girls or boys. There were (3) main reasons why the board decided to make the change. 1) This will align our girls sports with other CYO leagues across the nation, as well as align the seasons with High School sports. 2) This will avoid conflicts with Club Volleyball which is becoming more popular. However, we realize this may cause other conflicts with other sports or other activities (i.e. soccer) 3) SBAA spends about $14,000 a year in gym rentals between St Bart’s KAC, Mt. Healthy and other gyms. Because girls volleyball and boys basketball are our most popular sports, by changing seasons, we can save some money on gym rentals. We realize that this change might cause some children and parents to make decisions about other activities, however, the SBAA board felt this change was in the best overall interest of SBAA. With this new change and the urgency of forming leagues, the SBAA board needs to submit the number of teams to the new league office by June 1, 2015. With this date rapidly approaching, those members interested in signing up their child for Girls Volleyball must do so immediately by May 31, 2015. Please complete the steps below to register your child for Girls Volleyball for fall 2015. 1. Visit www.stbartsathletics.org and click on the Login link at the top right. (For new users, please click on the Register link or visit our NEWS section for registration instructions) 2.
