News Release 23 April 2015 Eco-friendly luxury – international Green Key certification awarded to all six of Kämp Group’s hotels All six hotels in the Kämp Group have been awarded the Green Key eco-label. Green Key is an international tourist sector environmental programme that involves more than 2,400 hospitality companies in 46 countries worldwide. For customers of Kämp Group the Green Key label is proof that the hotels’ entire staff carry out daily eco-friendly work based on specific environmental criteria. Sustainable tourism is gaining in importance among travellers and hotel operators. Minna Laine, Kämp Group’s Facility Manager, is extremely happy that the Green Key certification has finally landed in Finland and that Hotel Kämp, Klaus K Hotel and all four hotels in the GLO chain were awarded the Green Key eco-label in April. “The Kämp Group wishes to operate sustainably and promote sustainable development. All of our units work daily towards making environmental sustainability a highly visible part of our corporate culture,” says Laine. Hotels that are granted Green Key certification commit to reducing the environmental load of their accommodation operations by, among other things, improving the efficiency of water and energy consumption and decreasing the volume of waste and recycling it effectively. Active environmental communications and promoting both the personnel’s and customers’ environmental awareness are an integral part of the Green Key programme. The Green Key jury, made up of experts in corporate responsibility, sustainable tourism and environmental protection, decides who will receive the eco-label. “Environmental responsibility is a matter of intent and Kämp Group hotels clearly exhibit this. At each hotel the entire staff are involved in extensive environmental work and they are also inspiring our customers to be part of it. Customers can choose to keep the same sheets for longer, thus saving on water, energy and chemicals. They can also select local or organic food for breakfast or view the city’s sights on bicycles supplied by the hotels. The hotels are increasing the efficiency of their water and energy consumption and already purchasing eco-certified electricity,” says Marketta Viljasaari, Green Key Program Manager for Finland.
