Subject: Notification of Office Timing for Summer 2015 in District Kathua
(9AM to 3PM) – Except Schools
Whereas, official timing for Civil Secretariat has been fixed as 930AM to 5PM
with 5 days’ week and in Divisional Offices of Winter Capital as 10AM to 4PM. There
is a requirement for rationalisation of Office timing in near consonance with
Administrative Departments / Divisional Offices.
Whereas, District Kathua is spread over vast geographical area comprised of 5
Sub-Divisions (Hiranagar, Kathua, Bilalwar, Bani, Basohli) and 11 Tehsils with
population of more than 6.15 Lakhs. The geographical spread of the district requires
an offices timing convenient to public / deputations approaching the district offices
from far flung areas.
Whereas, the timing of public transport fixed in the district has also be kept in
consideration for fixation of office timing while according due care to public
convenience and also that of employees.
Whereas, the Summer Office Timing of 8AM to 2PM has put the public into
discomfort with limited availability of official timings and also makes it inconvenient
for the officials to arrive in offices at 8AM which collectively has a bearing on public
grievance redressal and developmental process.
Whereas, vide notification dated 30th April 2015 the office timing for District
Kathua has already been fixed as 10AM to 4PM w.e.f 1st May 2015 however it has
been observed that some offices wrongly construed the notification as pertaining to
District Offices only while the timing has to be observed in the entire district. The
matter has been re-examined in view of requests from public and employees.
Therefore, in view of the public interest and efficiency of working of
Government Offices it is hereby ordered that all the Government Offices /
Departments / PSUs / Govt Funded or Aided institutions and Organisation shall
observe Summer Office Timing as 9AM to 3PM without fail. However, only
Government/Private Schools shall observe the summer timing of 8AM to 2PM while
the Offices of Education Departments (CEO/DIET/ZEO/ZEPO etc) shall observe the
general timing of 9AM to 3PM
