Spring and Fall of each year for members.
GUESS WHO’S COME FOR DINNER
A resident on lower Apache Circle reports hearing mountain
lions attack animals during the last three nights and saw them
run through his yard. Keep your pets inside. We’ll make sure
this was reported to State Parks and Fish and Game.
Submit your registration packet with your $10.00
registration fee to Marybeth no later than Tuesday, Sept. 30th.
On the day of the event, you sell your own items on
your own property. KREOA will just make sure we send a lot of
shoppers your way!
To promote this event, the KREOA will create a
neighborhood map showing the address and location of all
KREOA homeowners who have officially registered for this
event. (This map will be available both in print and online.)
advertise the Kelly Ridge Yard Sale Caravan throughout the Butte
County in newspapers, radio and TV stations, on the KREOA website and lots of other sites on the web! We are even designing our
own Facebook Page for this event.
P G & E WORK ON KELLY RIDGE
KREOA contacted P G & E about the outages and delays on
Royal Oaks recently. Some of our members were without power for as long as 24 hours and didn’t know why or when service
was going to be restored, with no warning from P G & E. One
of our members called us who was worried about some of our
frail elderly members. Marty spoke with the P G & E supervisor
of the job and management about our concerns. He said the
repairs were due to an emergency and were unexpected. He
promised to let us know as soon as information is available for
any emergency or planned work. We will post the information
on our website for member information as soon as received.

KREOA PRESIDENT’S COLUMN
This has been a busy summer for our new Board. We’ve added members, had a Board Workshop to set goals for the coming
year and developed our style to make meetings more effective and the work of our committees as useful to members as possible.
Gary and his committee are hard at work on neighborhood quality issues by investigating complaints and contacting members to
make corrections. Most members are very cooperative as they see this as OUR neighborhood and want to take pride in our appearance. There are a few who challenge us. Those members will find that we are moving forward with plans to amend our Bylaws, enforce the C C & R requirements, and not allow the lives of the rest of us to be compromised by their disregard for the
rules. Some people respond to a letter, phone call, or visit to help them resolve issues. We are preparing to take a more formal
approach to resolving issues with non-cooperative members. That could take the form of fines and/or court appearances. We
don’t want to take this route, but, if there is no other choice, we are prepared to go forward.
Safety is the number one issue the Board wants to take on this year. Joe, as Chair of the committee is investigating resources we can look at, such as surveillance cameras that members can purchase, as well as security lights. Knowing your
neighbors and watching out for each other is still the gold standard for safety in the neighborhood. So, please get to know people
on your block and be there for each other.
Board meetings have been moved to the 2nd Wednesday of the month by special request from the football crowd. When
the decision was made at our last meeting, the audience cheered. So, please plan to attend on our new meeting day at 6:30pm.
Board members are on the move. Don’t be surprised if we stop by to introduce ourselves to you and visit for a bit. We
want to get to know you and establish a real relationship with you. Future plans for KREOA will include collecting food for baskets to the needy for the holidays, a holiday lights and home decorating drive-by tour in December, as well as a host of other
events aimed at enjoying our lives together here in Kelly Ridge. Marybeth Little, one of our newest Board members has an abundance of ideas, and as our Special Projects Chair, she is prepared to follow through, starting with our Yard Sale Caravan. So, if
you receive a call from Marybeth, be prepared to be excited about living in our neighborhood and anticipating the next great
event she will plan, with all of our help.

THINK ABOUT STARTING A NEIGHBORHOOD WATCH ON YOUR STREET…...
STARS PROGRAM
The S.T.A.R.S. Program stands for "The Sheriff's Team of Active Retired Seniors". STARS members conduct a variety of duties including
neighborhood patrols. My wife and I recently learned that in addition to vacation checks, STARS will also conduct "extra patrols" or "drive
by" patrols of specific residences. So if you want them to drive by your home or a "problem" residence each day simply to provide a presence, you just need to contact them and submit a request. This is a free service. The STARS phone number is 538-7820. http://

DEADLINE IS NOVEMBER 1ST
PICTURES ARE WORTH A THOUSAND WORDS…
Send us pictures of your home projects, pets, or other things you would like to share in our newsletter. Some people
may have a solar project to share, or a landscape renewal. We can learn from each other and sometimes we can get together
to offer a landscaper, plumber, electrician, or handiman a group of projects and get a percentage saving by ordering together.
We could keep a landscaper and garden maintenance person very busy in our area, where there seem to be very few choices.
Group buying power is very effective and we can use all of the help we can get in this economy, as we strive to improve our
homes and do the needed repairs. Also some people need home help a few hours a week. It could be worth somebody’s while
if there are several of these to keep that person busy. Please share your ideas and thoughts.
