Principal’s Report
Student Late Arrivals/Early Departures
It is important that your child is at school all day, every day.
We ask that appointments etc. be scheduled outside of
school hours unless unavoidable so that your child does
not arrive after 8:45am, or leave before 3:15pm.
Dear Parents/Carers
Team China
Our travellers to China have returned safely. By all
accounts they have had a great time and have many
stories to share with family and friends. I am proud to say
that Georgia, Poppy, Isabella and Alex were wonderful
ambassadors for Kennington Primary School.
If your child does arrive late at school they must report to
the office prior to going to their classroom. When they
report to the office they will be provided with a late pass to
give to their classroom teacher. This process ensures that
our attendance records are accurate. In addition, if for
some unavoidable reason you need to collect your child
early, we require that you or a person authorised by you
first visit the office to collect an early departure slip. When
you go to the classroom, please give the classroom teacher
the slip. Again, these processes are in place to maximise
our care for the children and we thank you in advance for
your cooperation in these matters.
I would also like to thank Kim Kirpatrick and Aimee Welton
for the outstanding job they did in ensuring that the
students were not only safe, but also got to experience all
that the trip had to offer. As you would appreciate, taking
students overseas is a huge responsibility.
A big thank-you also goes to the parents who supported the
Overseas Learning Experience and worked tirelessly
fundraising to support this amazing opportunity.
Student Reports
th
Semester 1 student reports will be distributed on Friday 19
June, and will be followed up with Student Led
rd
Conferences on Tuesday 23 June.
Student Led Conferences
rd
Student Led Conferences will be held on Tuesday 23
June. Students will only attend for their conference on
this day.
Meeting times will be booked on line. Meeting times will
nd
also be available after school on Monday 22 June for all
classes.
CSEF – Camps, Sports and Excursions
The Victorian Government has now introduced Camps,
Sports and Excursions Fund (CSEF) to assist eligible
families.
Students must wear school uniform for their conference.
If you hold a valid means tested concession card or
temporary foster parents, you may be eligible for CSEF.
The allowance will be paid to the school to use towards
expenses relating to camps, excursions or sporting
activities for your child.
The booking system will open tomorrow on Friday 12
June at 9:00am. Refer to back page for code.
th
The June Parent/Teacher and Student Led Conference
times will be booked online again this year. Meeting times
nd
will be available after school on Monday 22 June and
rd
during the day on Tuesday 23 June for all students
The annual CSEF amount per student will be $125.00.
Please contact the School office to obtain a CSEF
application
form
or
download
from
www.education.vic.gov.au/csef.
Prep 2016 - Enrolment
All parents who are intending to enrol their child in Prep at
Kennington for next year, 2016, should collect an
Information Pack from the school office. The pack includes
information pertinent to KPS including the Great Start
Transition Program and includes the official school
enrolment form. The enrolment form and a copy of the
child’s birth certificate and immunisation record must be
th
returned to school by Friday 26 June, 2015.
Applications forms need to be lodged at the School office
th
by close of business on Friday 19 June, 2015.
Students Arriving Too Early
I am concerned with the number of students arriving prior
to 8:35am every morning, some as early as 8:00am. Yard
duty does not commence until 8:35am. Children are then
supervised. The only exceptions to this are Breakfast Club
and Morning Club. Breakfast Club is supervised from
8:10am. Morning Club occurs every week on Wednesdays
and Thursdays at 8:00am in the stadium.
This date is set by the Department of Education. If your
child has additional needs including a medical diagnosis,
language difficulties, is involved with any Early Intervention
services, or if you just have a worry or concern about your
child, please make an appointment to see me as soon as
possible. If your child is hearing impaired, please contact
Ms Marg Tope, the leader of the Deaf Facility, through the
school office.

If you can spare some time on Thursday 18 June from
9:00am, please call the office on 5443 2011.
Our teachers adapt the curriculum to meet the needs of our
students and community, for example, designing learning
programs around what your children are interested in, or
around days or celebrations that are important to our
community.
“Remember more hands make light work”
SchoolMate is designed to give you an overview of what
children are expected to learn in Victorian Government
Schools across every subject from Prep to Year 10.
Visual Art News
We are preparing for a busy third term working on many
textile projects in Grades 3 -6. Any wool scraps you have
at home would be put to great use
in the art room and would be very
much appreciated.
