It is now expected that all students wear winter school

Semester 1 student reports will be distributed on
Friday19th June, and will be followed up with Student Led
Conferences on Tuesday 23rd June.
Team China
Our 4 students and 2 teachers continue to have a
wonderful time in China. The group is now in Suzhou and
were fortunate to visit Xinggang School on Tuesday. This is
the school that our Chinese students from last year, Nelly
and Mary attend. The group had a great day catching up
with the two girls and had the opportunity to experience
school life in a Chinese setting.
Student Led Conferences
Student Led Conferences will be held on Tuesday 23rd
June.
Students will only attend for their conference on this day.
Meeting times will be booked on line. Meeting times will
also be available after school on Monday 22nd June for
all classes.

Student Late Arrivals/Early Departures
It is important that your child is at school all day, every day.
We ask that appointments etc. be scheduled outside of
school hours unless unavoidable so that your child does
not arrive after 8:45am, or leave before 3:15pm.
Just three simple steps and your interviews are

the office prior to going to their classroom. When they
report to the office they will be provided with a late pass to
give to their classroom teacher. This process ensures that
our attendance records are accurate. In addition, if for
some unavoidable reason you need to collect your child
early, we require that you or a person authorised by you
first visit the office to collect an early departure slip. When
you go to the classroom, please give the classroom teacher
the slip. Again, these processes are in place to maximise
our care for the children and we thank you in advance for
your cooperation in these matters.

Students Arriving Too Early
I am concerned with the number of students arriving prior to
8:35am every morning, some as early as 8:00am. Yard
duty does not commence until 8:35am. Children are then
supervised. The only exceptions to this are Breakfast Club
and Morning Club. Breakfast Club is supervised from
8:10am. Morning Club occurs every week on Wednesdays
and Thursdays at 8:00am in the stadium.
Prep 2016 - Enrolment
All parents who are intending to enrol their child in Prep at
Kennington for next year, 2016, should collect an
Information Pack from the school office. The pack
includes information pertinent to KPS including the Great
Start Transition Program and includes the official school
enrolment form. The enrolment form and a copy of the
child’s birth certificate and immunisation record must be

returned to school by Friday 26 June, 2015.

Our school, like all other government schools in Victoria,
uses AusVELS as the basis for the learning programs we
run at school every day.
Our teachers adapt the curriculum to meet the needs of our

Beginners Team

Breakfast Club – Every Friday
The Aztecs Basketball Club is seeking 1 or 2 girls to join
their Under 12s Division 3 team.
Competition is held on Wednesdays after school at the
Bendigo Stadium in West Bendigo.
Training is 4:30pm on Thursdays at the indoor stadium
BSE Secondary College in Flora Hill.
Breakfast Club is every Friday from 8:10am until 8:25am.
(This allows time for students to get to their classrooms
before the bell at 8:40am.)
To qualify, girls must be born in 2004 or 2005.
Everyone is welcome at Breakfast Club. A gold coin
donation is appreciated. The money that is donated goes
towards the fresh fruit in the classrooms.

Strathfieldsaye Junior Girls
Football
Last week the Bendigo Advertiser wrote a
fantastic article on our new Under 12
Junior Girls competition that has
just commenced
this
year.
The
Strathfieldsaye Junior Football Club has
proudly introduced a team into this
inaugural competition and we still have a
few places available for any interested
girls.
Neale Daniher is the face of the 'Big Freeze at the G'
campaign, which aims to raise money to find a cure for
Motor Neurone Disease (MND).

Daniher, who played 82 games with Essendon before
coaching Melbourne for 10 years, was diagnosed with MND
two years ago.
If any girls between the ages of 9 and 12 would like to
come and see what Junior Girls’ football is all about and the
pathway it can lead to, we would welcome them to attend.
The fundraising effort will culminate at the Round 10 clash
between Collingwood and Melbourne on Queen’s Birthday
when some of Australia’s biggest football personalities will
do a toboggan run into a giant pool containing two tonnes
of ice.
