Principal’s Report
Chinese Cultural Exchange Program
Mary and Nelly, our two visiting students from China have
settled in really well to life at Kennington Primary School.
On Monday night, the mayor of the City of Greater
Bendigo hosted a mayoral welcome for all visiting
students from China. Across Bendigo primary schools
there are currently approximately 50 Chinese students
working in 12 different schools. All these students, and
their host families, were invited to the Mayoral Welcome
on Monday evening. During this time the Australian
National Anthem will be followed by the Chinese National
Anthem at Assembly.
Dear Parents/Carers
Sunday Social Get-Together
One of our parents, Brooke, who is an ex-student at
Kennington Primary School and who was a student here
at the same time as Mark Winter, has organised a social
event this Sunday afternoon as a fund raiser for Mark and
his family. The event is being held at the Shamrock from
2:00pm through until 5:00pm. Brooke has worked hard to
collect prizes for a raffle to be held on the day. If you
would like to purchase tickets in the raffle they will be
th
available from the office tomorrow, Friday 24 October.
Grade Structure in 2015 & Parent Input
I ask that all families seeking to enrol their child in Prep at
Kennington PS next year to have their enrolment forms
completed as soon as possible. If your child will not be
attending Kennington PS in 2015, we would appreciate
you letting us know.
Nutbush Fundraiser
nd
On Saturday 22 November our school community is
hosting a Guinness Book of Records attempt on having
the most people doing the Nutbush at the same time.
This event is being conducted as a fundraiser for the
Winter family. The event will be held from 4.30pm –
6.30pm and we will have live music played by Spies Like
Us. In addition to the music we will have a sausage sizzle
and soft drinks and water available for purchase. We
hope that many members of our community can join us
for this event. People are welcome to bring chairs or
picnic rugs to enjoy this event on our school oval.
If there are any concerns about placements for students
in 2015, that you have not already discussed with your
child’s teacher, Jo Menzel, Trudi Jacobson or myself,
th
please let us know in writing by Thursday, 30
October.
Please note that it is not possible for parents to request
specific teachers.
Bendigo Cup
There will be no school on
th
Wednesday 29 October due to the
Bendigo Cup public holiday.
Webpage
The KPS webpage also provides extra information and is
updated regularly. www.kenningtonps.vic.edu.au. The
current webpage is changing format so may not be as up
to date as usual over the next month. We appreciate
your patience during this upgrade process.
Camps
The Grade 4 and 5 students will
be heading off to camp in the
first week of November. Please
ensure that if your child has a
medical condition:- including asthma, anaphylaxis that
they have an up-to-date signed medical plan from the
doctor and current medication. Please speak with your
child’s teacher ASAP if your child has specific dietary
requirements.
The Link
The Link is the main form of communication with you and
the school. The Link will be sent home with the youngest
child
in
each
family
or
look
on
www.kenningtonps.vic.edu.au. The Link is published on
Thursdays. Sometimes, where we need to ensure that a
piece of information gets to all of our school community, a
notice will be repeated in a number of newsletters.
Education Maintenance Allowance 2015
It is really important for parents/carers to be aware that
there will be no EMA in 2015. This will mean that on
Book Collection Day 2015 all costs will need to be
covered by you.

Less than one in five Victorian kids walk to school
regularly, at a time when childhood obesity is rising to
epidemic levels. Since 2006, VicHealth's Walk to School
has aimed to tackle this worrying trend by encouraging
Victorian primary students to walk to and from school
more often. Younger children are encouraged to walk
with their parents and older children on their own (when
their parents decide it's safe).

I am in credit at the school office. I authorise the
school to deduct $15.00 from my account . (this
