Unitarian Universalists Are Looking Forward to Celebrating Marriage Equality! Among faith communities, Unitarian Universalists have been leaders in the quest for marriage equality. We have been plaintiffs in suits, filed court cases, joined amicus briefs, petitioned legislators, staffed phone banks, held press conferences, led worship services and more in support of marriage equality. We are counting on the Supreme Court of the United States to rule on the right side of history this summer and make marriage equality the law of the land. And if they do, we plan to celebrate! If you know a same sex couple hoping to wed in Ohio, please let them know our clergy stand ready to joyfully officiate their ceremonies. We are also planning a Freedom to Marry Celebration for July 3 at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Kent. In addition to offering up to eight free weddings for committed LGBT couples that day, we will also have a rolling reception for all who want to toast what we expect will be a landmark ruling in support of civil rights.
