Dear Parents,
WAHEGURU JI KA KHALSA WAHEGURU JI KI FATEH!
1. Annual Kirtan Competition: There will be a Kirtan Competition on Saturday, May 9, 2015. It will be held in the
Gurdwara Sahib at Khalsa School Newton Campus. It will run from 8:00am – 5:30pm. This is an open competition
and students from all schools will participate. All are invited to come and be a part of this event.
2. Professional Development Days: Friday, May 1st and Monday, May 25th will be Professional Development Days
for teachers. The school will be closed for students on these dates
3. Interim Reports: Interim Reports will be sent home on Monday, May 12, 2015. This is a good way to track your
child’s progress so far this term. There will be no Parent-Teacher Meeting this term.
4. After School Tutoring: For third term, tutoring program has started from April 8th to June 12th, 2015. Classes are
being held 4 days per week and cost is $7 per hour. Forms are available at the front office.
5. Victoria Day Holiday: Parents are reminded that there will be no classes on Monday, May 18 due to Victoria Day
holiday.
6. Enrichment Class Placement Exam: There will be a placement exam to determine
enrichment classes for next year 2015/16. This exam will take place on June 15. This test
will be for the top students in KG and Grade1 main classes and all students in Enrichment
classes. Selected students will be notified by the homeroom teachers. Students are selected
based on the top average test marks for the whole year. The test will cover the entire
curriculum for this year. Please help prepare the children for this last assessment of the
school year. No Enrichment testing will be done in September, 2015. All students sitting for
the test MUST be registered for the next session 2015/16.
7. Gurbani Kanth Mukabala: This contest will be held on May 23 and students from K-12 can take part. Students
who are keen to take part need to start reading Gurbani aloud and we also have Gurbani Sudh Path classes daily
from 7.45am to 8.05am at the Gurdwara Sahib. All students who come early are encouraged to join.
8. After School Kirtan Classes: Due to high demand from parents and students, we have started after school kirtan
classes at our school Gurdwara Sahib from 3.40pm to 4.40pm. Our Kirtan teacher is Mr. Ahluwalia.
