Mary Johanna Baker Mary was born June 1, 1919, at Pedro, SD, to John and Anna (Tambornino) Hutter. She grew up in the Plainview Country. She attended high school at St. Martin's. She married Carl A. Baker at St. Martin's Chapel on October 14, 1941. The couple lived on a ranch north of Sturgis. Mary was a member of the St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church and the Blue Army. Mary Johanna Hutter Baker, 95, Belle Fourche, died Wednesday, March 11, 2015, at the Belle Fourche Health Care. Survivors include her sons, Martin (Kitty) Baker, Whitewood, Carl T. (Pat) Baker, Hidden Timber, SD, Norbert (Dawn) Baker, Rapid City, Gary (Shirley) Baker, Enning, and Steve (Susan) Baker, Rapid City; daughter, Phyllis Schild, Rapid City; 22 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; and 5 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, one brother, five sisters, and one granddaughter. A memorial has been established to the St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church.
