General/Family CMEs - Cost: $120 ($100 by August 1) This new, 4-hour workshop explores the issue of screening as an element of assessing appropriateness for mediation as well as addressing safety concerns for both mediators and clients. Participants will discuss “why screen” and the challenges of screening; learn about violence and power issues as well as domestic violence issues; and review various screening tools used locally and nationally. Participants also will develop and/or modify a screening tool that can be used in general and family mediation settings. 6:00-8:00 “Changing Hats - Making the Transition to the Mediator Role” – Andrea Palmisano, Palmisano Mediation Services, trainer 2 Hrs. General/Family CMEs -- Cost: $60 ($50 by August 1) The goal of this course is to help mediators identify the differences between their current professions and their role as a mediator and discuss the challenges in making the transition. These include the definition of professional identity and the mediator’s identity; challenges in making the transition; and practices to help with that transition. Pre-registration and a $25 deposit, per workshop, is required.
