VOLUME 2 ISSUE 3 Chaplain’s Chat MAY/JUNE 2015 Sunday Ser vice Time Change During the spring and summer months our church service will move to 10:00 AM on the first and fourth Sundays. As many of our residents enjoy being outdoors in the nice weather or may go out with family but, still want to attend church, morning is a preferred time to worship. This allows the resident to have the afternoon free for family and friends. Our services are open to family and visitors. Memor ial Day Se r vice On Monday, May 25th we will have our traditional Memorial Day Service. This service is dedicated to those who have served their country in our nations armed services. The service will feature songs, readings, and recognition of those in our midst who have served their country. We would invite family members and friends to be a part of this service. If you have served our country and have your uniform we would invite you to come dressed. The service will be at 3:30 PM in our chapel on the first floor. CHAPLAIN’S CHAT Summer Retreat As some of you are aware we have had a number of spiritual retreats for residents, family members, staff, and visitors. We did not have one this winter as has been our tradition. We are planning for a retreat this summer. This will be an evening (supper) retreat. We will meet for a festive meal together and follow with about an hour of teaching and sharing. Watch for specifics to come later this spring. New Painting Our chapel is now graced with a beautiful work of art generously donated by John (Jack) Clark, one of our residents. The work is modern and very intense and will add much to our chapel décor. You are invited to go to the chapel and view this magnificent work of art! Rutter’s Requiem & Hello Dolly In May there will be an opportunity to hear the Rutter Requiem as performed on Good Friday by the First Covenant Church Easter Choir and Orchestra. This is a stirring work written on the death of Rutter’s father. The performance can be heard on May 14th at 1:00 in the chapel. Last fall Farnsworth Aerospace School, Johnson High School, First Covenant Church and Saint Paul Covenant produced the musical “Hello Dolly”. This is a wonderful production brought to life by some very talented young PAGE 2 people. Coming at 1:30 on May 18th in the chapel.
