The Susan Armitage Teaching Award is given annually to a CCGRS faculty member, instructor, or
teaching graduate student for his/her contributions to women's studies and/or ethnic studies as
recognized by CCGRS majors/minors. The award is named in honor of Professor Sue Armitage, a
women’s historian, who helped to establish women’s studies at Washington State University. Criteria
for this award are:
1) Contributing to the development of women's studies and/or ethnic studies at WSU in an
exceptional manner, and
2) Providing a feminist/womanist/anti-racist role model for students at WSU.
(PLEASE NOTE: Previous recipients are not eligible for TWO YEARS after receiving the award.)
