FROM ADMINISTRATION…Now that the weather has turned warm we
want to remind you about our dress code. We have noticed that some of our
young ladies are wearing clothes that are not appropriate for school. This
includes shorts/skirts that are too short or tight, shirts that reveal straps
or are low cut, yoga pants that are too sheer or not worn with longer shirts.
If clothing needs to be constantly pulled down for coverage or adjusted, it
should not be worn to school. Thank you for your assistance.
We enjoyed two wonderful concerts this Monday and Tuesday.
Congratulations to our outstanding students, Mr. Walls and Mr. Jackowski.
We wish our eighth grade musicians much success as they move to high
school.
Interim reports went home Thursday. Take time to discuss them with your
students so they can end the year on a strong note. The Summer Reading
list was also sent home. If you missed it, you can find it on our website.
PLEASE MAKE SURE YOUR STUDENT HAS TISSUES WITH HIM/HER.
Send in a box for the class!
Please join us at our annual GT Enrichment Fair next Thursday, May 14, 6:30
to 8:00 pm.
Finally, more information about our new Eighth grade field trip will be coming
home soon. Have a great weekend and Happy Mothers’ Day.
ENRICHMENT FAIR…On Thursday, May 14h from 6:30 pm to 8:00 p.m.,
Lime Kiln Middle will hold its Enrichment Fair. Our theme, “ A School Year
of Excellence” will be on display the entire night.
The focal point of the evening will be the live presentations presented by
those students who have participated in the Gifted and Talented Education
Enrichment Program this year. These students have been working extremely
hard when participating in G/T Instructional Seminars, including: the
television show, computer programming, debate, and writer’s guild. Also,
featured are the National History Day projects that advanced to the state
level in the exhibit and documentary categories. Finally, our “Best in Nation”
winners of the Verizon App Challenge will present the app concept Volunteer
Me and update you on their progress.
In addition to the Gifted and Talented Education Program presentations,
individual classroom projects and displays will be featured. The awesome
Lime Kiln jazz band will play a few selections as well. Please do not miss the
International Festival where projects and authentic dishes will be shared. To
close our evening, the Shakespeare Troupe will perform the Tempest.
All of the live presentations will take place in the cafeteria, the media
center and the GT room.
Come join us for this fun-filled and informative evening, highlighting the
tremendous talents of our students here at Lime Kiln Middle School.

Middle School World Language… Students are now able to register for the Middle
School World Language program through the HCPSS BSAP/K-9 Summer Institute.
Rising 8th graders, who were not enrolled in world language in grade 7, may enroll in

students to enroll in the appropriate grade 8 language course for the 2015-2016 school
year. The course meets from June 29 - July 24 from 8:30am - 12:15pm at Lime Kiln
Middle School ($275). Students have the option of also registering for the afternoon
enrichment sessions with the BSAP/K-9 Summer Institute ($550).
Although this course was listed in the HCPSS Summer Catalog, it was not available on
any of the online registration forms, prohibiting students from enrolling. If you have any
students interested, please encourage them to complete the online registration form on the

Host Families Sought for AFS Exchange Students: Next school year, some twenty AFS
exchange students from around the world will come to Howard County for a lifechanging year of cross-cultural sharing. Exchange students live in a family such as yours
and attend the locally district HS from your address. Host families volunteer to provide
room and board for a student and get to know a great kid and learn more about a different
part of the world. Exchange students learn about our American culture from the inside
and share about theirs. Students are available from countries over 90 countries, including
Germany, Italy, Sweden, Japan, and Thailand. Students have interests including dance,
soccer, track, choir, and scouting. Howard County Public School's placement deadline
for next year is coming up very soon.
If you would like to hear more about the process of becoming a host family or any other
aspect of our program, please contact Christina McGarvey at (410) 997-7087 or
