Senior Exit Survey
All seniors must complete an on-line exit survey prior to check-out Friday, May 15. The survey takes
approximately 15 minutes and will be available starting April 15, 2015. This survey may be completed before
or after school, during any downtime at school, or from a home computer. To access the survey, go to the LSHS
website at http://lshs.lsr7.org and click on the Senior Exit Survey link.
Check-out Friday, May 15, 2015
Senior check-out cards will be distributed 2nd hour on Wednesday, May 13th. Seniors must have each of their
teachers sign the cards to indicate that all obligations have been met. Teachers will sign your card once you
complete the final exam. You will not receive a cap or gown nor be cleared for graduation until all fines have
been paid and all obligations met. Any senior without a 2nd hour should pick up a check-out card from the
counseling center.
Graduation
The graduation ceremonies that demand special dress for our graduates and proper behavior by all.
Expectations for behavior include respect for the event and a tone of solemnity. Specifically, make sure your
guests know they should…
 Respect all graduates by holding any applause until all names have been read
 Refrain from yelling at any time
 Turn off all cell phones and electronic devices
 Avoid bringing any sort of noisemakers
 Avoid smoking on the graduation premises.
Dress Guidelines for Students
 As soon as you receive your cap and gown, hang your gown to allow the wrinkles to fall out.
- Hang it in the bathroom while showering to steam out the wrinkles, or press with a cool iron.
- If you do not do one of these, your gown will not be presentable for these special ceremonies.
 In order to participate in the ceremony, make sure your dress is appropriate.
1. Students are not allowed to write or display any written statements or symbols on robes or hats.
2. Caps should be worn straight with tassels starting out on the right side. At the end of the ceremony, they
will be flipped to the left side.
3. Male graduates should wear white shirts, slacks, and dress shoes. Jackets are too hot to wear under
robes. No shorts are allowed.
4. Female graduates should wear dresses, skirts, or slacks and dress shoes. No shorts are allowed.
Hairstyles must permit the proper fit of caps.
5. Graduates should not wear tennis shoes, flip flops, or beach shoes.
6. Flowers or jewelry should not be worn on gowns. No decorations of any kind are allowed on caps or
gowns.
7. Do not wear sunglasses.
Dress Guidelines for Guests
1. Men are asked to dress in slacks and a dress shirt. Blue jeans, t-shirts and hats should be avoided.
2. Women are asked to wear a dress, skirt or slacks, and a dress shirt. Blue jeans and t-shirts should be avoided.

Graduation 2015
Community of Christ Auditorium
1001 W. Walnut
Independence, MO 64050
Wednesday, May 20, 7:00 p.m.
Graduation Tickets
Anyone wishing to view the LSHS graduation ceremony at Community of Christ Church, Independence on
Wednesday, May 20, 2015, must present a ticket at the door. A graduation announcement is not a ticket to
the ceremony. Ticket distribution will occur Thursday, April 23 from 3:30 – 7:00 p.m. in the Brockman Lecture
Hall at LSHS. Students must have all fines paid, community service completed and documented in the
community service office, and both the Missouri and United States Constitution tests passed before tickets will
be released.
Admittance to the Ceremony
1. Tickets will be collected by event security staff. Anyone who fails to produce a ticket absolutely will be
refused admittance.
2. A ticket is not a reserved seat. Tickets do not assign seats in the auditorium.
3. A ticket gains one person, per ticket, entrance to the building. Toddlers (two and under) and infants
require their own ticket if they are not in the lap of an adult.
4. Parents and guests are allowed admittance beginning at 6:15 p.m. The auditorium has four
entrances: west, east, south and north. The west entrance is the main parking area (off Crysler Street) of
the auditorium (see diagram on page 6). Reserved seating for graduates is displayed (see page 8). Lee’s
Summit police officers, Independence police officers, and event security staff will assist in crowd
supervision, emergencies and audience security. If a guest needs to exit and re-enter the building, they
must check out through the event security staff.
5. The saving of seats at commencement is not allowed. Guests will be reminded that they cannot save
seats and noncompliance to this request will be referred to security.
6. Guests may not stand in the aisles during any part of the ceremony, including the processional.
7. Guests who shout or use noisemakers will be escorted out. The most important part of the ceremony
for each person in attendance is to hear the name of his/her special graduate. The LSHS Class of 2015
expects all guests to observe this rule so that all graduates’ names may be heard.
8. Guests will not be allowed admittance to the auditorium once the graduates gather in the north foyer for
the processional. Once the processional is over, guests (with tickets) may enter or re-enter.
9. Once the ceremony has begun, late arriving guests will be directed to available seating.
Disabled Seating (wheelchair only)
The west entrance to the auditorium has wheelchair accessibility and seating (see page 8). This is the main
entrance as most of the parking is available on the west side. A circle drop-off area is at the west entrance. The
auditorium has other handicapped seating on the floor level east side. Elevators and ramps are available inside
the auditorium. Parking is restricted to areas designated on the attached map as “Auditorium Parking” only.

1. Seniors should arrive at the Lower Assembly Room no later than 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday evening, May
20. Each senior should bring his/her cap, gown, and tassel. Seniors should not bring purses or extra
items to the Lower Assembly Room. No extra items will be allowed into the ceremony. Seniors should
access the Lower Assembly Room by coming in the auditorium’s west entrance and taking the stairs or
ramps to the lowest level.
2. Once in the Lower Assembly Room, each senior will be issued a card showing his/her name. This is
how the senior’s name is read at graduation. Seniors must pick up the card at the appropriate table.
3. Lee’s Summit High School allows NO noisemakers, confetti, balloons, or any such items in the
auditorium. Neither seniors nor guests will be allowed to interfere with the continuity of the graduation
ceremony. FAILURE TO FOLLOW THESE RULES WILL RESULT IN GRADUATES
HAVING DIPLOMAS AND TRANSCRIPTS WITHELD IN ADDITION TO NOT ATTENDING
PROJECT GRADUATION PER R-7 BOARD OF EDUCATION POLICY.
4. Just prior to the start of the ceremony, the graduating class will be lead, by sponsors, to the north foyer
where seniors will line up in pairs at the north ramp to enter for the processional.
During
5. Following the processional, all seniors will remain standing. Senior men will remove their caps for the
salute to the flag, National Anthem, and the class aspiration.
6. Seniors will sit in unison following the class aspiration.
7. After presentation of the class by Dr. Faulkenberry, seniors will stand, by row, and proceed across the
stage and receive a diploma cover as their names are read from the cards. YOU MUST HAVE YOUR
NAME CARD IN ORDER TO CROSS THE STAGE.
8. Students will not pass any items during the diploma exchange.
9. After all diplomas have been presented, seniors will rise for the affirmation and moving of the tassels
(right to left). The seniors will then recess out of the facility, from back to front (rows U to A),
following the ushers lead, and move across the road on to the front lawn where they will throw their
graduation caps in unison. Mr. Haub, the event photographer, will capture this moment on film and
make the photo available for purchase. One 5x7 can be purchased for $7.00 or an 8 x 10 can be
purchased for $10 if ordered by May 20. This photo can be ordered prior to graduation by contacting
Haub Photography at 702 SE Blue Parkway, 524-4188. Other sizes will be available. Fees will vary.
