1. Look back at your prediction. Based on the activities and readings, how would you revise your explanation? p3132
1. Cut out the pictures that represent the stages in an alligator's life cycle. Figure out the proper order of the life cycle and glue them to your page. Use arrows to show the progression from one stage to the next.
Label the three main stages. Circle the stages that depend on water.
2. Cut out the pictures that represent the stages in a bullfrogs' life cycle. Figure out the proper order of the life cycle and glue them to your page. Use arrows to show the progression from one stage to the next. How would alligator's lives be affected if they no longer had access to land? Without land alligators would not be able to lay their eggs because they deposit the eggs on land and cover them with soil to keep them warm.
How would alligator's lives be affected if they no longer had access to an aquatic (water) environment? Having no access to water would mean the alligator would have to find another way to hunt and to have to find a different living space because most of its adult life is spent in the water. Label the three main stages. Circle the stages that depend on water.
How would bullfrogs' lives be affected if they no longer had access to land? Bullfrogs would not have much trouble living if they did not have access to land becuase all of their life cycles happen in the water.
How would bullfrogs' lives be affected if they no longer had access to an aquatic (water) environment?
A bullfrog without access to water habitat would be in trouble. They need to keep their skin moist, they lay eggs and develop as young in the water. They would not be able to have young at all without water,

Compare the bodies of alligators and bullfrogs at each life cycle stage eggs, young, and adults. Make sure to explain in detail how their similarities and differences are important for their survival.

Write a paragraph or two comparing the physical characteristics of alligators and bullfrogs at each stage in their life cycles. Be as detailed as you can in your explanation of how their similarities and differences are important for their survival. Example: Both alligators and bullfrogs start as eggs. Alligator eggs are leathery because they are laid on land and need to hold in moisture and be protected. Frog eggs are jelly like because they are laid in water and do not need protection but do need to be able to absorb water.
When they hatch...alligators look like mini adults. They are able to run and swim. Parents take them right to the water where they learn how to get food. Frogs hatch as tadpoles with gills and tails, no legs.
Older young...alligators just get bigger and continue to swim and hunt in the water. Bullfrog tadpoles lose their tails, grow legs, and develop lungs. They do this because as adults they spend time both in and out of the water.
Adult alligators...are much bigger and catch bigger prey. Adult frogs...have legs, breath with lungs an spend time in and out of the water catching bugs.

1. What are some characteristics that would help an animal survive in an aquatic environment? 2. Describe the habitat of an animal that lives near you but is NOT your family pet.
Example: A raccoon sleeps in hollowed out trees, drinks from surface water, and eats anything it can find.
