Rooms with a View: Production Manager brief Freelance contract: April – November 2015 Inclusive Project Fee: £3000 Magic Me is the UK’s leading providers of intergenerational arts, bringing together younger and older people across East London, for mutual learning, enjoyment and benefit. Our pool of artists design, lead and evaluate projects using the performing, visual, media and literary arts. Last year we worked with 550+ participants and volunteers. Our weekly programme of workshops runs in schools, older people’s centres and cultural venues including Wilton’s Music Hall and BFI. Our Cocktails in Care Homes project runs monthly parties in 8 locations. All activities run in partnership with other organisations. Recent partners include: LIFT, Duckie, and Spitalfields Music. We are seeking a freelance Production Manager to work with Magic Me artists and staff on the Rooms with a View project, starting in April 2015. This role is to production manage Rooms with a View, a devised piece of interactive live theatre, created and performed by local people of all ages from Bethnal Green, which will be performed in a non-theatre space in November 2015. The Production Manager will: Source a suitable venue for the performance, work closely with the Programme Director, lead artists and design team meeting the following requirements: o Be in the borough of Tower Hamlets o Have at least 6 rooms/areas for performances o Have space for tea and community conversations o Have something that can be used be as a green room o Be accessible and warm o Be near public transport Liaise with Programme Director, lead artists, visual and sound designer and the venue in order to understand the creative ambitions, technical specifications and access needs of rehearsals, performances and community conversations for the project. 18 Victoria Park Square London E2 9PF 020 3222 6064 [email protected] www.magicme.co.uk Registered Charity: 328331 Magic Me Ltd. is registered in England: Company No 2394189 Rooms with a View: Production Manager brief Cost all production requirements and to manage the production budget. Liaise with Programme Director and Magic Me staff team to order supplies and hire equipment. Facilitate production meetings. Liaise with all relevant people as listed above to create schedules, technical specifications and equipment lists. Facilitate the design process by providing ground plans, technical drawings and advising on feasibility. To cost, plan and resource the build/make/sourcing and installation of the designs as presented by the set, lighting, sound, digital and/or costume designers. Take overall responsibility for the management of the production process including crew calls, hire and return of equipment, get-ins and outs and health and safety. Undertake a comprehensive risk assessment for the rehearsals, performance, productions and community conversations. Liaise with other members of the team and the venue to problem solve production issues outside of and in advance of production meetings where possible. Work with the Programme Director to draft contracts with the venue to be approved by the General Manager. Create and manage all documents and lists needed for the team to work from in preparation and during the performance, productions, participatory activity or event. Supply, brief and manage all crew (including stage managers and technicians) in rehearsals and during productions, performances and community conversations. Ensure that artists are given the necessary information, welcome and facilities in order to work at their best. Take part in monitoring and evaluation for the project.
