I will...  Support initiatives to make Malvern a great place to live for people of all ages.  Make sure that local people are properly consulted about developments that would affect you.  Listen, and be responsive, to local residents ‐ making myself as accessible as possible, and to actively seek residents’ views.  Work with colleague councillors ‐ of all political persuasions – to re‐establish a shared approach to Council leadership, in contrast to the ruling Conservative administration, which has tried to control everything – handing almost all the committee chairs to its own members, ignoring the fact that almost half the elected councillors are independents, Greens or Lib Dems. Greens can win here!
In the last local election for this area, John Raine was elected County Councillor for The Green Party. I will push for...  Swift completion of the Malvern Vale development, with roads and pavements completed to an acceptable standard.  A significant new Heritage Centre project for Great Malvern – to attract more visitors to the town and so boost the local economy.  A sensible decision to be made about the potential school site on Malvern Vale and safer routes to all of our local schools.  Improved recycling performance through reducing the price of the ‘green waste collection service’ (brown bins) to encourage more households to participate, thus making the service more economic. Also for residents to be consulted on how best to achieve more recycling and less waste to landfill (e.g. by collecting food waste in conjunction with the green waste collection service, by introducing ‘mini bring’ sites for recycling at community level, or supporting the Repair Café with a permanent site to increase ‘re‐use’ of broken items).  More frequent street and pavement sweeping – keeping our footways free of overhanging branches, weeds and dog‐fouling.  Improved community transport provision so that more people can choose to leave their cars at home more often, while those without personal transport can enjoy better connectivity to shops, health care and other facilities in Great Malvern and Worcester.
