Protect those who can no longer protect themselves
Having an individual’s best interests at heart is key to being a successful guardian ad litem
(GAL). Each year, State Bar of Wisconsin PINNACLE ensures that these dedicated counselors are
equipped with crucial tools and updates, whether they’re experienced practitioners or new to
the field. Topics include:
l Survey of current trends and concerns
l Perspective of Dr. Molli Rolli who treats people with dementia and other psychiatric
illnesses as they undergo guardianship proceedings
l Case law and community resources update
l Ethical GAL issues such as competency requirements, the value of communication, and
handling post-appointment conflicts
No one left behind
The annual training has been redesigned to include two tracks to help establish and reinforce
a solid foundation for both beginning and advanced practitioners. If you’re a new GAL,
attend an in-person beginner level interactive workshop with Gretchen Viney, who will walk
you through a case from start to finish. But you won’t miss out on the experienced track
presentations, which will be recorded and available to you for 90 days on the web archive.*
In-person attendees may also choose to attend the experienced track programming, which
is the track that all webcast attendees will view. Experienced track attendees who would
like a GAL basics refresher prior to the program date, may choose to purchase and view the
PINNACLE program, Adult GAL Basics – 2014.
Get ahead on emerging topics
To serve members who attend annually, 2015 Adult Guardian ad Litem Training presents a
variety of topics in the more advanced practitioner track, including:
l Abuse situations and other complexities
l Practice after Helen E.F. and dementia care redesign
l Panel presentation on advanced GAL topics including Medicaid and spendthrift
guardianships
Engage with presenters and colleagues

seminar. In addition, the live seminar includes an optional luncheon where you can network to
build a support system. Register now to get insight and updates from respected professionals
in the field!
