The Wine Guild was formed as a group of individual supporters of the Festival
in 2012. The goal of the Guild’s creation was to bring people together to be a
part of creating and developing the Festival, enjoy camaraderie with other
wine and food lovers, and taste interesting wines.
In addition to the financial support our membership has provided, the Wine
Guild has served as our “sounding board” for event ideas, chef and
winemaker contacts, venue relationships, and personal relationships. We’ve
created committees like the 100 Point Wine Committee, regional winery
relationships/competition committee, the International Ambassador
committee, Wine Spectator Top 100 committee, and others, which we could
not have done without the resounding support of our members.
We try to provide our membership with unique opportunities beyond our Wine
Guild meetings. We provide opportunities to interact one-on-one with chefs
and winemakers during the Festival weekend, granting first-access to tickets
and year-round Festival events, making international chef and winemaker
connections for travel and dining, and any special opportunity that we can
bring to our membership. We are always open to new ideas in which we can
provide members with fantastic culinary and camaraderie experiences.
As you may know, the Festival received our 501(c)-3 certification last August,
and we’re excited to be operating 12 months of the year to create interesting,
economic-driving events for the MidAtlantic region. The Festival has its own
purpose statement, which is as follows:
The purpose of the MidAtlantic Wine + Food Festival is to be the premier food
and wine event of the MidAtlantic featuring international vintners and chefs in
collaboration with our local talent; promoting cultural and economic
development; creating opportunities for young people to pursue culinary
careers; and partnering with designated beneficiaries to raise funds.
