Instructors
Donna Sarna, B.A., BMR (PT) M.Sc.
Donna Sarna obtained her Bachelor in Medical Rehabilitation in Physiotherapy from the University of Manitoba in 1992. Her
career began in private practice focusing on the areas of orthopedics and sports injury. Early on in her career, she was
privileged to have the opportunity to work with a team of health care practitioners in a multi-disciplinary chronic pain
program. This experience inspired a change in her philosophy as she learned the importance of looking at an individual as a
whole, and that optimal health involves not only the body, but also the mind and the connection between the two. In 2000,
she began her own practice to support this change in philosophy which made a holistic approach in her care of her clients
possible. She combined this endeavor with the pursuit of her Masters degree in Science in Medical Rehabilitation which she
completed in 2005. In 2002, Donna pursued Pilates training (Stott Pilates), which she incorporates into her daily practice.
Concurrently, Donna began extensive training in the treatment of pelvic floor pain and dysfunction. She is qualified to perform
internal pelvic floor assessments for dysfunction related to incontinence, pelvic floor organ prolapse and/or pain conditions.
She also provides prenatal and post-partum assessment, education and treatment to optimize the health and outcomes for
new moms. Over the last 8 years Donna has also completed many courses in the areas of myofascial release, visceral
mobilization and craniosacral therapy which she incorporates into her daily practice.
Jaime Angus, BMR (PT)
Jaime Angus graduated from the University of Manitoba in 2000 with a Bachelor of Medical Rehabilitation in Physiotherapy. In
2001 she commenced postgraduate training in the area of women’s health. She has completed course work in the
management of incontinence, pelvic pain disorders, pelvic organ prolapse, prenatal and postpartum health and fitness as well
as post-mastectomy care. She has also undergone extensive training in the areas of myofascial release, visceral manipulation
and acupuncture. Jaime is qualified to perform internal pelvic examinations and treatments and integrates the retraining of
the pelvic floor musculature as part of her holistic approach to lumbopelvic health. Jaime is a strong advocate for reducing the
incidence of incontinence and pelvic pain in the female population by early intervention post-partum, and has spoken
numerous times at the community level to increase awareness among women and health care professionals on these topics.
She is also a Pilates instructor working with individuals with injuries as well as the healthy population.
Jamie Wheaton, B.A., BMR (PT)
Jamie Wheaton graduated in 2005 from the University of Manitoba with a Bachelor of Arts majoring in Psychology and in 2008
from the University of Manitoba with a Bachelor of Medical Rehabilitation in Physical Therapy. She has enjoyed working as a
private practice Physiotherapist since graduation. Jamie began working at Donna Sarna Physiotherapy in 2011 because she has
a special interest in women’s health. She is trained in assessment, diagnosis and treatment of pelvic floor dysfunction which
includes urinary and bowel incontinence of men and women, pain syndromes of the pelvis and genital region, pelvic organ
prolapse, pudendal neuralgia and perinatal physiotherapy. Commonly treated perinatal issues include diastasis rectus,
diastasis pubis, lumbar and hip pain, and preparation for delivery including perineal massage and stretching. She is frequently
invited to present to the public on pelvic floor continence and pelvic floor issues. An important part of her treatment approach
is education and exercise prescription allowing the patient better control of their progress. She has taken multiple courses in
internal pelvic floor assessment and treatment since 2011. She has also completed several orthopedic levels post graduate
including muscle and joint function, acupuncture, headache assessment and pelvic floor related disorders. Jamie has been
trained in orthotic casting and has been providing custom orthotics for several years. In her spare time, Jamie enjoys taking
ballet and tap dance classes, playing dodgeball, golf, going to the gym, and being with friends and family.
