The awards are presented to alumni who have made outstanding contributions to their professions, communities, or society-at-large. 015 ENBRIDGE ALUMNI PROFESSIONAL 2 DEVELOPMENT AWARD* Recognizes alumni who are establishing their career as an emerging artist, designer or arts administrator. All nominees for the 2015 ACAD Alumni Awards are considered. This award is adjudicated on merit of work and statement of the Nominee. BIOGRAPHY Allison Hrabluik received her BFA at the Alberta College of Art and Design in 1999, and attended the Higher Institute for Fine Arts in Belgium from 2005-2007. Her videos, sculptures, drawings, performances, and texts take a lyrical and humourous approach to narrative exploration and portray voice and subjectivity with wit and compassion. Allison is from Calgary, Alberta and now lives and works in Vancouver, British Columbia teaching at Emily Carr University. NOMINEE ACHIEVEMENTS • Extensively featured in exhibition catalogues and in BlackFlash, Artforum, C Magazine, Canadian Art and other publications. • Represented by Galerie Tatjana Pieters in Gent, Belgium, Hrabluik’s work has been shown in solo and group exhibitions and film festivals across Canada and internationally. • Shortlisted for the BRINK Award for Emerging Artists on the Pacific West Coast in 2011 and was longlisted for the Sobey Art Award in 2014. • Contributes to her community as President of the Board of Artspeak, an artist-run gallery in Vancouver and as a former volunteer for the Stride Gallery in Calgary. • Regularly participates as a guest speaker and visiting artist at numerous institutions and is a sessional instructor at Emily Carr University. *Award proudly sponsored by Enbridge
