2015 ACAD ALUMNI HONOUR AWARD
Recognizes the significant contributions made over a number of years
by ACAD alumni in their local communities and beyond. The awards are
presented to alumni who have made outstanding contributions to their
professions, communities, or society-at-large.
BIOGRAPHY
Steven Cottingham graduated in 2012 from Alberta College of Art + Design with a BFA in Painting with Distinction.
He was most recently the Programming Coordinator at The New Gallery and will be the first writer-in-residence at
Temporary Art Review in St. Louis later this year.
He has exhibited with both professional institutions and guerrilla venues all over the world and is currently participating in
an artist residency in Berlin, Germany.
NOMINEE ACHIEVEMENTS
• Exhibited with both professional institutions and guerrilla venues, most recently in Havana, Glasgow, Brooklyn,
Fredericton, Vancouver, Edmonton, Saint John, and Calgary.
• Curated the 2012 Calgary Biennial—an exposition that appropriated billboards, classifieds, alleyways, and the sky itself
to challenge conservative status quos.
• Recipient of numerous grants, artist residencies and awards, including the 2014 TD Insurance Meloche Monnex Alumni
Career Award.
• Programming Coordinator for The New Gallery (2012-2015) and sat on the Board of Directors for the Mountain
Standard Time Performative Arts Festival (2013 – 2015).
• Will be the first writer-in residence at the Temporary Art Review in St. Louis.
