The Production Manager’s job, based in our Glasgow office, is to be responsible for
scheduling and organising the essential support facilities for the production team on all
projects across film and digital media; and controlling expenditure so that productions
and projects come in on time and on budget.
Essential skills

of different kinds of media productions, including broadcast TV.

Hours
Part time, 30 hrs a week. This is equivalent to four days of a standard 37.5 hour fulltime week.
Our preference is for the PM to be in the office five days a week, so the idea is for you
to work the four-day hours over five shorter days. Start and finish times are negotiable,
on a flexitime or compressed hours basis.
We aim to be a family-friendly company and we hope a 30-hr week might suit someone
with caring responsibilities at home, or other reasons for preferring not to work full time.
We are also open to the option of job-sharing.
Salary
Because media co-op believes in equality, we pay everyone on the staff the same rate,
no matter what their job title. Currently the annual salary for everyone in the team is
£24K (pro rata for posts that are less than full time).
Starting date
Starting date is negotiable although we would be pleased if you are available for an
early start date.
There will be a 3-month probationary period.
Induction and training
media co-op will provide a full induction to the successful candidate. We will provide
training in the areas where the successful candidate has less experience if necessary.

Here is a bit more detail about what you would be doing as our
Production Manager:
1. Production & Project Management
Running an efficient production office and providing proactive production management
throughout the life of all productions and projects.
Scheduling multiple projects and productions, generating project and production
budgets, monitoring and controlling expenditure and providing cost reports in
conjunction with the Finance Manager.
Liaising closely with the Management and Finance Manager to ensure that there is clear
and transparent accounting for projects and that all freelance and staff contracts and
payments are in order and legal and fiscal obligations met.
Supporting the Finance Manager to generate accurate company cash flow and
Management Accounts through the provision of accurate cost reporting.
Production/project management and co-ordination of logistics including:

crew, freelancer, equipment and facilities bookings and employment contracts
casting
location and studio scouting and booking
shoot preparation
wardrobe, art department, props, etc.
being on shoots as required
researching and booking post-production facilities, versioning, close captioning,
etc.
bringing the production in on budget
sorting out any issues or conflicts that arise in relation to any of the above
Management of production co-ordinator or assistant, where relevant.
Providing regular status reports to the producer.
Providing regular ongoing communication with the creative and production team.
2. General Duties
Generating budgets and cash flows for tenders, pitches, proposals, etc.
Contributing to the continuous improvement of media co-op’s budgeting, project
management and administrative systems.
Participation in company, development and project meetings, as required.
Any other duties as reasonably required.
About the company
media co-op is a Glasgow based social enterprise. All our projects promote positive
social change. We do not work for the private sector. All our clients are in the Third
Sector (e.g. charities, social enterprises) or the Public Sector (e.g. NHS, Scottish
Government), plus we produce broadcast TV on social issues. Many of our projects
involve campaigning and awareness-raising. We pride ourselves on high standards of
professionalism and we have won a number of awards for our work.
Our output includes film, websites, and cross-platform projects. The majority of our
projects are currently short-form campaigning, promotional and awareness-raising films
and animations, and websites. We are in the process of expanding our digital output.

fairly regularly.
Workers co-operative
media co-op is unusual in our industry in being a workers co-operative. This means we
are a professional company with clearly defined and conventional job roles and
responsibilities; but the company is owned and controlled by the people who work in it,
with no outside shareholders.
The successful candidate will be invited to join the co-operative, after one probationary
year. All co-op members can attend quarterly members meetings, vote for company
directors, vote on major company policy decisions and stand for election as a company
director.
