The Index does not reflect the trend of any one advertiser or source, but is an aggregate measure of the change in job listings across the industry. “The Monster Employment Index Philippines has registered a decline of 31% in the past year, with the BPO/ITES industry showing the most amount of promise. The Philippines’ economy has recently emerged as a global hub for BPO, currently employing over one million people,” said Sanjay Modi, Managing Director, Monster.com (India, Middle East, Southeast Asia and Hong Kong). “As production and manufacturing jobs continue their steady decline, it is important for the country to focus on high growth industries to continue to create jobs and encourage growth. The recent approval of the Information Technology-Business Process Outsourcing (IT-BPO) Roadmap 2016 initiative is a step in the right direction and incredible vital for the country’s prospects. “Additionally, the Philippines banking sector is expected to deepen its ties with its ASEAN counterparts, so as to strengthen its own financial institutions. This should see a boost in Finance & Accounting jobs in the future.” Page 2 of 6 Monster Employment Index Philippines results for the past 15 months are as follows: Feb 14 Mar 14 Apr 14 May 14 Jun 14 Jul 14 Aug 14 Sep 14 Oct 14 Nov 14 Dec 14 Jan 15 Feb 15 Mar 15 Apr 15 Y-o-Y 91 100 98 110 92 101 109 110 110 113 88 84 96 85 68 -31% Industry Year-over-year Trends: Monster Employment Index registered decline in online recruitment activity in all the 12 monitored industry sectors. • BPO/ ITES (down two percent) registered marginal year-on-year decline this month, following previous two months of positive growth.
