Dear Prospective Practicum Student, Thank you for your interest in our Child Life Practicum program at Ministry Saint Joseph’s Children’s Hospital! NOTE: The practicum experience is offered to college students who have at least Junior standing and have taken Child Development and Child Life Theory course work. You will find the application for this program on our website, under ‘Child Life Practicum’. Please fill it out and mail or email it back to me on or before May 15th (for Summer Practicum – August) or September 15th (for Winter Practicum – January). The August and January practicum will run the FIRST two full weeks in their respective month. Upon review of your application, I will contact top candidates to set up an interview. If you are accepted as a practicum student, housing will be provided free of cost across the street from the hospital. After I have completed the interviews, the top two candidates will be chosen. The first hyperlink takes you to the document: “Ministry Health Care Student and Instructor Health Work Requirements”. Please review carefully as you will need to complete and provide documentation for each listed requirement. Note: You will need to get them done right away as some may have specific timeframes between doses/immunizations. We must have documentation of your health work at least four weeks in before your start date. Whether or not you will be cleared to start once offered will depend on receiving the results of all health work. Additionally, complete the Ministry Health Care orientation modules, Student Authorization Form, and Confidentiality Agreement.
