The program is designed to provide students that do not have prior experience in the field of Alcohol and Drug Counseling with a competency based educational program that meets certification standards in California in the most time effective manner available today. Medical Assistant Program This 46.8 Semester Credit Unit (720 clock hours) program requires 36 weeks of training and provides many administrative duties including answering phones, greeting patients, updating medical records, filling out insurance forms, scheduling appointments, arranging for hospital admission, laboratory services, handling billing and bookkeeping. Clinical duties may include taking medical histories and recording vital signs, explaining treatment procedures to patients, preparing patients for examination, and assisting the physician during the examination. Computerized Office Specialist This 54.0 Semester Credit Units (720 clock hours) program requires 36 weeks of training. The office specialist program is helping meet the demand for qualified and knowledgeable people in the modern workplace. Office specialist and administrative assistants are responsible for a variety of administrative and clerical duties necessary to run an organization efficiently. They serve as an information manager for an office, plan and schedule meetings and appointments, organize and maintain paper and electronic files, manage projects, conduct research, and provide information by using the telephone, postal mail, and e-mail. Certified Nurse Assistant This 9.3 Semester Credit Unite (160 clock hours) prepares the student to meet California requirements to take the State Certification Exam for CNA's. Basic nursing theory and skills are taught in the classroom and laboratory setting, and students are supervised in giving care to residents in the long-term care facility (nursing home). The focus of this course is on the care of the elderly resident. Course content follows the California State approved CNA curriculum. Dialysis (Hemodialysis) Technician This program 14.7 Semester Credit Unit is seven (8) week course consisting of 80 hours lecture and 200 hours of lab/clinical experience in dialysis facilities. Lecture topic include: principals of dialysis, anatomy and physiology of the kidney, fluid and electrolyte balance, hematological aspects, infectious diseases, dialysis systems and equipment, vascular access to the circulation, routine aspects of Hemodialysis, dietary regulation, blood chemistries, complications of renal failure, psycho-social aspects, and an overview of peritoneal dialysis and renal transplantation Pharmacy Technician This 52.0 Semester Credit Units (720 clock hours) program requires 36 weeks of training. Pharmacy technicians help licensed pharmacists provide medication and other healthcare products to patients. Technicians usually perform routine task to help prepare prescribed medication for patients, such as counting tablets and labeling bottles. Technicians refer any questions regarding prescriptions, drug information, or health matters to a pharmacist. Technicians receive written prescriptions or requests for prescription refills from patients. They also may receive prescriptions sent electronically from the doctor’s office. In hospitals, nursing homes, and assisted living facilities, technicians have added responsibilities. Massage Therapy Program This 54.0 Semester Credit Units (720 clock hours) program requires 36 weeks of training and provides a healing art as well as a science. It requires a balance of academic technical knowledge, clinical skills, manual dexterity, sensitivity, and awareness. Everyone has the innate resources to touch another with care and confidence. However it takes a sincere desire to help others, along with a commitment to the time, energy and focus necessary for the training process in order to become a solid practitioner. This program covers anatomy, physiology, kinesiology, theory and practice of massage therapy, hands-on practice under supervision, ethics and business practices. Phlebotomy Technician This is a 6.2 Semester Credit Unit (89 clock hours) program requires 3.2 weeks of training and provides the necessary knowledge, skill and attitude development. This is a study of blood specimens from health care clients for the purpose of testing and analysis. The course is comprised of a series of lectures, conferences and clinical experiences specifically designed for phlebotomy training. Successful completion of the course will allow students to sit for the National Phlebotomy Certification (NCCT) examinations. Mobile Crane Operator This 17.7 Semester Credit Units (120 Theory & 40 Skills clock hours) prepares student to successfully complete to pass the NCCCO written / practical examinations. Solar Photovoltaic Installer This 3.0 Semester Credit Units (80 clock hours) Students complete a 80 hour week-long course (36 theory/ 44 lab skills training) that covers the design and installation of photovoltaic (PV) systems, and involves actual hands-on work with PV systems and equipment. Tower Crane Operator This 9.4 Semester Credit Units (55 Theory & 77 hours Skills training ) prepares student to successfully complete to pass the NCCCO written / practical examinations. Water Technology Management – Entry Level This 17.7 Semester Credit Units (246 clock hours) is a 15 week course, 120 theory/90/36 lab training that prepares the student for the California State T1, T2, T3, examinations.
