Mayor’s Message
Activate Lindfield
Consultation with our community on this most important project is
gathering pace. We’re receiving lots of questions about what’s planned
on the www.haveyoursaykurringai.com website. We’re also holding
workshops at the end of this month and in early May so people can
come along and give their feedback in person. If you’d like to book
into a workshop, make a comment or ask a question visit the website;
comments close on Friday 8 May.
Hornsby/Ku-ring-gai Women’s Shelter
As mentioned in a previous column, the shelter is now open and receiving clients.
Regrettably the need for support for women suffering from domestic violence appears
to be great in the local area. The shelter is seeking assistance from the community with
fundraising as well as volunteers. If you can help them please contact the shelter via their
website at www.hornsbykuringgaiwomensshelter.com.au
Have your say on Lindfield

Tyron Road car parks. Council staff will be available to talk to you
about the designs at the following times:
■ 8am - 11am on Tuesdays

Bushfire prone land
Last week the Council adopted a draft map for public exhibition of bushfire prone land in
Ku-ring-gai. Nearly 12,000 properties are now identified as being bushfire prone on this
draft map, which is on public exhibition between 17 April and 28 May. We have used the
latest guidelines from the Rural Fire Service to prepare the map, which can be viewed at
www.kmc.nsw.gov.au/exhibition, libraries or our customer service centre at Gordon if you
are interested in commenting.
ANZAC Day film screening
We are hosting a free screening of a thought-provoking documentary about Gallipoli
on Saturday 25 April at the Wildflower Garden. The film is called Gallipoli; the front line
experience and captures the thoughts and emotions of Turkish and Australian troops
during the landings. Afterwards there are refreshments and a chance to view an exhibition
by the Ku-ring-gai Historical Society. Please phone 9942 0868 to reserve your place.
