MAYOR’S MESSAGE
Community Day at Lindfield
Tomorrow Saturday 21 March we will be hosting a community day at
Lindfield’s Woodford Lane car park between 11am and 3pm to discuss
with you plans to ‘activate’ Lindfield.
Over the last 18 months the Council has been talking to local residents
and businesspeople about the future of the centre and what they would
like done to revitalise it. From our discussions some common themes
have emerged – the need for more green space, a communal area
for public events, better designed streetscapes and new community
facilities such as a library.
Acting on your feedback, we have now prepared concept designs for two key areas
known as the Lindfield Community Hub and Lindfield Village Green, located at the
Woodford Lane and Tryon Road car parks respectively.
The designs are on public exhibition between 21 March and 8 May and I do hope you
will view them and give us your opinion. Your input will assist the Council in making a
final decision on a preferred design for both the Hub and the Village Green. Please visit
our website at www.kmc.nsw.gov.au/activatelindfield to find out more about this exciting
project and how you can have your say.
Ku-ring-gai’s Got Talent
Young local residents are invited to register for the Ku-ring-gai’s Got Talent competition.
The competition is open to anyone living in Ku-ring-gai aged 12-24 years and encourages
contestants to show off their passion, whether singing, dancing, drama, comedy, music or
magic. This is your chance to win up to $1000 in cash plus a range of other great prizes!
To enter visit www.kmc.nsw.gov.au/KGT; registrations close on Friday 27 March.
Golden Jubilee Oval
This past week Cr Jeff Pettett and I had the pleasure of switching on the new field lights at
the home of the Stealers Baseball Club at Golden Jubilee Oval. The lights we’ve installed
there mean the club can now play night games to cater for their growing membership.
This is another project where the Council and community have worked together to
achieve a great result for sport and fitness in our local area!
James Morrison at The Big Swing
Finally I’m very pleased to announce that James Morrison is our special guest at the
Big Swing Festival at St Ives Showground next Saturday night. This is shaping up to be
a night to remember, with other stars such as Todd McKenney and Tom Burlinson also
appearing. Tickets are selling fast so don’t miss out – book at www.bigswing.com.au
Parking is available at the venue or free shuttle buses from Gordon and Pymble stations.
