Take a Parent to Lunch this Summer – Faculty
Members Still Needed!
The College of Arts & Sciences summer recruitment efforts
include the Take a Parent to Lunch program during New Student
Enrollment, which this summer is June 9 – July 11. Lola Lorenzo
has participated in this program for many years, this summer she
will be taking a group of students abroad for the newly created Soria
program, so we are looking for volunteers to fill this crucial role.

When you take a parent to lunch, you are provided a free lunch at
Selleck Dining Hall, and it allows you to meet with parents and students
from all over the country, as well as Nebraska. Ideal candidates are
enthusiastic about languages at UNL. Please let Evelyn Jacobson know of
your interest, and she will forward suitable names to the college recruiter.
Spanish Tutoring Center Cancellation
The Spanish Tutoring & Writing Center will be cancelled on Friday, March
20th, to allow Jennifer Isasi to attend the Big Red Road Show.
Workshop on Translation
Professor Cecilia Tocaimaza-Hatch will lead a Workshop on Translation to be
held on March 31, 2015 at 2:30 in the Modern Languages Laboratory located
in 302 Burnett Hall. The Spanish Section strongly encourages participation
for all GTAs and Lecturers.

Human Rights Activist
Brenda Flanagan is a writer, poet, performer, scholar and US cultural ambassador to
many world places. Since 2003, Dr. Flanagan has served as a Cultural Ambassador
for the United States Department of State. Her visit opened doors to other American
cultural missions. Flanagan has served in Brazil, Saudi Arabia, Chile, Kuwait,
Tajikistan, Morocco, Tunisia, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Chad, Panama, India, and
the Czech Republic.
