Student Ambassador Team PURPOSE Student Ambassadors: 1. Create positive public relations for the College of Arts & Sciences undergraduate programs. 2. Greet new students through campus and outreach activities (Red Letter Days, Big Red Road Show, Math Day, Language Fair, Chemistry Day, Phone calling campaigns, A&S facility tours, etc.) 3. Participate in events and activities aimed at enhancing personal leadership, communication, and pre sentation skills. RESPONSIBILITIES Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following: 1. Commit to 10-15 hours per month (Fall Semester) and 5–10 hours per month (Spring Semester) of scheduled and informal recruitment activities. 2. Attend free Ambassador dinners as well as planning and training meetings each semester in addition to recruitment activities. 3. Participate in other events deemed appropriate by the Director of Recruitment. SELECTION The A&S Student Ambassadors are specially selected, outgoing and friendly undergraduate students currently enrolled in the College of Arts & Sciences. The selection shall be made during the spring semester for participa tion in the following academic year. Eligibility: 1. Must have availability between 9:30-10:40 a.m., 12:30-1:30 p.m., and/or 1:30-2:30 p.m. (at least one, the more the better) Mondays and Fridays in order to serve as a Student Ambassador at Red Letter Day events. 2. Must be currently enrolled full-time (the equivalent of 12 hours per semester) with a major in the Col lege of Arts & Sciences. 3. Be in good standing academically with a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.5 or above. 4. Show genuine enthusiasm about the College of Arts and Sciences. Process: 1. Applications and reference names are due in the A&S Academic and Career Advising Center, 107 Oldfather Hall by noon on Wednesday, April 1, 2015. 2. One reference name is required for consideration as an ambassador. Reference must be from any UNL professor, staff member or academic advisor (please list their UNL status). 3. Applicants will be notified on a rolling basis prior to 5:00pm on Thursday, April 2, 2015 if they have been selected for an interview. Interviews will be no more than 30 minutes in length.
