FAQ’s
WHY SHOULD I ATTEND MOODY’S MUN?
Model UN is a great experience for those who love debate and even if debate isn’t your thing it is still a fun
event to attend to learn more about topics happening today (and in books!). Also, if you are a rising eight
grader, it is a good intro to a fantastic club, International Studies, available to eight graders at Moody.
HOW SHOULD I DRESS?
You should wear what the UN refers to as “Western Business attire.” For boys, this means a shirt and tie (with
blazer or suit if you’d like) and dress slacks (not jeans). For girls, this means a skirt, dress pants, or dress with a
nice blouse or shirt.
WHAT DO I NEED TO BRING?
You need to bring two copies of your position paper (one for you to read, one for your chair) as well as a bagged lunch
and something with which to write.
WHAT’S A POSITION PAPER?
Your position paper will need to be a 1-2 page typed response answering the “Questions to Consider” posted by your
committee chair that you can find in your committee’s background guide. Keep in mind, that when you are answering
these questions, you are playing the role of your assigned nation or individual. You should answer the questions from
their perspective and in their opinion, not your own. Your source for all things related to your position paper is your
committee’s background guide which can be located at our official website at http://moodymun2015.weebly.com. If
you have specific questions about what to write and HOW to write, email your committee chair whose email address will
be posted in your background guide.
CAN PARENTS ATTEND?
All parents are welcome to attend our opening and closing ceremonies but only teachers or other official HCPS staff may
attend committee sessions.
Please include the registration fee of $10 with the permission slip OR (for non-Moody students) bring $10
on the day of the conference.
We will accept cash OR a check made out to Moody Middle School. Please bring a packed lunch to the
conference as no food will be provided.
Non-Moody students should have their teacher return registration forms to Taylor Snow at Moody Middle
School via the HCPS pony AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. Email [email protected] if you have questions!
Sign-Up Form
Please turn in this form into Mr. Snow’s classroom (220) OR your homeroom teacher before spring
break. Number your top three ranked choices for committees and we will do our best to place you
