Typical outings include the grocery store to shop for group lunch, the bank, restaurants (both fast food and sit down) and a rec & leisure destination such as the mall, Dunkin Donuts, or Barnes & Noble (to name just a few!). Members also enjoy seasonal activities such as pumpkin and apple picking, and trips to the local ice cream stand. Members enjoy ice cream at Bedford Farm Q: Can NLG secure my child paid employment? A: Each of your children has been contracted to receive day habilitation and day habilitation supplemental services through MassHealth and DDS, respectively, for most, or all, of their time at NLG’s program. Unfortunately, the regulations pertaining to day habilitation services do not allow those individuals to take part in paid employment during the hours they are receiving day habilitation services. However, it may be appropriate for a portion of a member’s time to be contracted to allow that member to take part in group or individual supported employment opportunities when available. If you are interested in discussing whether this would be an ap- propriate option for your child, please contact Lauren Savioli to have an initial discussion. You would then need to work with your DDS coordinator to determine if your child’s contract could be revised to allow for some of each week’s hours to be covered under the most appropriate employment option.
