This manifesto has been created from both my experience of NaSTA over the past 2
years as a Regional Development Officer and conversations with various stations
across the country as to what they want from the organisation, and how they want
to see it grow. I truly am passionate about NaSTA and I can see its potential to grow
into something truly amazing, thus, this manifesto is a promise to NaSTA as to
what I want to have achieved by the end of my term in office.
Better for You
 Better Training. Although the NaSTA Wiki was started several years ago, it was
never fully completed. I’d like to finally release this invaluable resource with the
inclusion of videos and live demonstrations so that you have a resource to turn to
in order to make your stations be the best they can be.
 Nationwide internship opportunities. I would like to see a system whereby
NaSTA can provide ample opportunities in all sectors of the industry to its affiliates.
 Better website management. The current NaSTA website is outdated and needs
work to keep it both current and worth visiting. I would seek to do this by opening
the non-Executive role of Website Manager.
Better for NaSTA
NaSTA’s presence within both the industry and within universities needs some
work. I have put together the following policies in order to help remedy this, and allow for further development of NaSTA as a body.
 Fully implement the NaSTA Patron scheme and build upon it – solidifying links
within the industry and creating a dynamic between professionals and NaSTA
members.
 Open the debate on NUS Affiliation. Admittedly a controversial topic due to the
nature of NUS, however there are both benefits and negatives to take into consideration when considering this, thus a proper discussion needs to happen to find
what is best for NaSTA as a whole.
 Seek sponsorship from an outside body. Not only would this generate revenue for
NaSTA and permit it to host better, more frequent and more informative events,
it would also increase the reputation of NaSTA within the TV Industry.
