reigns forever. Let us rejoice in our

haven’t already.

Father Joe’s Week:
Last Thursday Fr. McKenna and I went to the Uno in
Webster for lunch, then to the AMC theater to see
Cinderella. The movie was good, with great special
effects. The highlight of the experience is the seating at
the theater—recliners, almost too comfortable. Fr.
McKenna had a gift card, so even the price was right…
That evening I went to supper with Frs. Bill Leone and
John Gagnier at the Northside Inn in East Rochester,
then I stayed overnight at St. Jerome’s. I started feeling
sick that evening, so I went to bed early, but really
didn’t sleep all night. Friday morning I went to
breakfast with a group of sportswriters, Fr. Bill and
Coach Ed Nietopski. We talked a lot of baseball and
other sports. They get together every couple of months,
and I’m sure to be there again. Great time…Meanwhile,
I was coughing and my knee started to ache. I came
back for Mass and Holy Hour, and laid down for the
rest of the afternoon. Thanks to Bob Connors for his
help—my coughing was too much for leading the
prayers. I walked around, but the knee was barking…
Saturday morning I went over to church for the
decorating for Palm Sunday. So many nice touches in
making the worship space look so perfect for the
weekend. Thanks to Cindy and her crew…I managed to
get through the weekend, I’m not sure how. My knee
kept getting worse and worse. Thanks to all who
helped, and to all of you for your patience with my
problem. I went to the doctor on Monday, and x-rays
were negative for any structural issues. So it’s just push
on and try to rest as much as possible (next week!) and
take some pain pills…I had learned of the death of
Stanley Mackun earlier in the week. His son Paul came
into town on Sunday and we met to do some work on
the funeral. I remember the Mackuns from when I was
here in the 70s. They were daily Mass people, and I
remember when Paul received his First Communion at
a 4 o’clock Mass. It was good to re-connect…Pamela
came down with the flu, so Millie Gianfagna was a lifesaver manning the office until she returned. Millie
helps us so much—of course she held down the office by
herself for so long. When I see her behind the desk, it’s
like I never left the parish…Monday and Tuesday I got
as much rest as I could, keeping the knee elevated…God
bless and have a good week!
New Format for Offering the Sacred Host
The love and care with which the Most Holy
Eucharist is handled helps to bring together the
faithful so we can truly know “It is the Lord.” (John
21:7).
In that spirit, starting April 11, Father Joe
and one other Communion minister will be
presenting the Sacred Host at the end of the center
aisle. Father will choose his side at Communion time.
If you prefer receiving from Father, please position
yourself on his side when you leave the pew. Likewise,
accommodate anyone coming from the opposite pew.
If Communion is brought to you, we will come to
you after the congregation.
Please be patient with us as we adapt to this change.
